BAGIRA is a Heavy Metal band from Russia and they have recently debut their first English Language EP titled "From Russia with Groove". First formed in 2011, the band has mainly released singles since their inception and from what I have read all of the members are from different bands from Russia that ended up united to form BAGIRA. With this EP release the world is able to hear talents and sounds that weren't able to be heard before according to Alla Bulgakova.
"Shadow" is the first song on this EP and it wastes no time getting heavy. Double kick pedals and distorted guitars is what are heard first followed by the vocal range of front woman Alla Bulgakova. Guitar pulses and power chords are heard throughout and it is setup with an almost power metal sound. The vocal placements in the song are really well put together and it just keeps you moving and head banging the entire time.
The second and final song of the EP is "Whisper" and I would say that it starts out a little more technical than the first track. The vocals are also slightly different in style but still make for a good sound. The guitars stay heavy throughout and the small tempo changes added helps change it up a bit.
All in all, even though this EP is just two tracks, both are packed with energy and heaviness that even your average metal head can get down to. I wish I knew more about this band but there isn't too much about them online. Maybe they are just a small town band from Russia, but I'm not sure. I'm going to be keeping my ear out on these guys in case they release more music because I am intrigued and definitely want to hear more from BAGIRA.
