Primacy Arrival
Axiom Chaos

Axiom Chaos is a pretty new name out there. Primacy Arrival is the first full-length from this band they hail from the U.S.A. Justin Vølus handles the voice, and Ben Vanweelden, a multi-talented musician, handles the rest of the instrument. Both of the guys have other bands too, one-man bands, or are involved as a part of bands. Vølus and Ben Vanweelden are a part of Void Blight, a death metal band with a very special death metal. The album starts with the track "The King, I Am" which doesn't sound typical U.S. death metal, more like something that Unleashed/Grave could have done, a really nice surprise, has some rhythm changes, and it fits. Very well done. "Primacy Arrival" continues with the Scandinavian osdm, mixed with the U.S. osdm. Justin Vølus uses two types of voice for this track, the growl (Entombed, Dismember) and the more guttural that we hear in Cryptosy,Embrionic Death. The music is really technical, but still has the right level of that to keep the flow. "The Gift of Recognition" and "Extraterrestrial Necrotic Urge" are also two great tracks. "Antediluvian Origin Unknown" is a track that stands out; it's up there and challenges "The King, I Am".
The track "Antediluvian Origin Unknown" is progressive; I have that feeling on all tracks, but on "Antediluvian Origin Unknown" it becomes clear. This band pushes the limits, and they do it well. They don't play the ordinary death metal; the progressive hint is strong. I really like this; "Wormhole Pathways of Conquest" is also a track that is strong. "Exodus into Oblivion" another standout track, and it's a complicated one because the piano section makes me think jazz, and so much happens under one track. The influences that this band has are way too many to describe, but it's one of the best death metal albums I heard for a long time. They push the limits and refuse to stay in one genre. If you're looking for a good band that is death metal but takes it to a new level, then Axiom Chaos and their album Primacy Arrival are what you need.
