Ok.. I'll admit it. I was a little skeptical about this album. I had never heard of the band, I'm in a time crunch, plus I had just reviewed 2 amazing albums and I am running low on beer. Not a good combination. But I sucked it up and let the promo play, and was wonderfully surprised. Good, I like being wrong on occasion.

"The Cure For Happiness" by ASHES YOU LEAVE really is a brilliant work. A wonderful mix of Gothic and Doom with a little melodic Metal thrown in. The vocals have a beauty and the beast kind of approach, but done without being overbearing or predictable. Well recorded with a great balance between all instruments, intelligent lyrics, with a great flow to the album as a whole. For a rating I'd say 9 out of 10.
