From Bandcamp, "Greek metal group ARTIFICIAL SUN have created a characteristic and unique sound that can be heard on their upcoming debut album, named "The Giants Collapse" that will be released May 9th 2023 via Sliptrick Records. The band manage to create their metal sound through an osmosis of collaborating ideas between each member that is manifested seamlessly under their own terms." The album has ten songs.

"Hell-o" is the first. What strikes me first is the heavy, slapping bass notes. The vocals are harsh, and semi-harsh at times, and the guitar work is fairly intricate as well. They are hard at work developing the sound, and that riff is commanding. "Scapegoat" is a slower grind, but still with intricate guitar work. The vocals are intense and they fuel the fire like gasoline poured onto an open flame. The clean bridge after the half-way mark is also a diverse addition to the song. The title track is another bossy and powerful song. One thing that the band does is play with confidence. The pace varies from slow and bruising to faster and scorching, and when they turn it on, run and hide.

"Monkey Society" has some melancholy tones mixed in with the angry ones. I finally figured out what the vocal style reminds me of as well...Kostas has an early Anders snarl from IN FLAMES. "Thin Line" begins with clean guitar tones and some tension in the air. You can see the monster over the horizon and you know he is coming for you. He lumbers towards you slowly, but there is no escaping his grasp. "White Lies" is a punishing sound. The lower end rumbles from bass, guitars, and pounding drums, while the vocals vary from screams, wails, and are more emotive in the chorus.

"Hoax" also begins with clean guitars and some tension in the background ambiance. From there, it grows progressively heavier, until the hammer is striking the cold, flat ground. That scream towards the end could wake the dead. "Dead Man's Misery" closes the album. It goes from fairly melancholy to balls out pretty quick, but the final tones are depressive. Overall, this was a solid listen. What the band seems to do best is to evade categorization, and their power, and confidence is high. Some of the songs sounded similar to one another, but if the band can work on that, the sky is the limit.
