Arsirius - Lvdi Incipiant album cover

From the ashes of the demise of German Death Metal band DEAD EMOTIONS, rose Death Metal band ARSIRIUS. Formed in the year 2010 near Munich, Germany, this talented band got its name from the hybridization of two words. Sirius, the brightest star in our night sky, and ARS, which translates to art in Latin. The band played Summer Breeze in the year 2012 and blew the audience away with their raw aggression and vicious performance. They have also supported metal giants HYPNOS and BLACK MESSIAH in the past. It took them over five years from the time of conception to release their debut album "Lvdi Incipiant". ARSIRIUS delivers a mixture of Old School Death Metal with a Thrash sound and also incorporates elements of Modern Death Metal to their sound.

The album begins with "Casus Belli", a fast paced track that the rest of the album lives up to. It starts out with a purposely under produced melody which builds up to throaty vocals and furious double bass drum action.  An intense first track clocking in just less than four minutes, it gives the listener plenty of head bang-able moments. "Interlude", the fourth track of the album, is a short melancholy instrumental piece. It is a gloomy simple melody that just fits the mood and it ends as simply and inexplicably as it begins. The mood is carried forward to "Arena", the fifth track of the album. It grumbles and moans to life with a slow riff and after about the thirty seconds into the song, the main melody and vocals roar into life. The drumming on this track is exceptional. The track picks up speed and never lets down till its end. "REX SACRORUM", the last track of the album, is a gripping song from the start. After a tear away beginning, it slows down in the middle parts. This Thrash/Groove Metal song is a great example of Christoph's singing prowess.

The songs are well thought out and Thrashy without any distraction of clichéd Death Metal beats. The vocals are guttural and menacing especially in parts where the track slows down considerably. Epic Death Metal at its finest, the songs deal with varied subjects like religion, war, and human depravity. The track listings are in Latin, which is totally badass! ARSIRIUS' music is drenched in gloom and aggression. This album reminds me of the way the band DEATH approached their craft. Clever melodies, monumental sounds with short bursts of solos with controlled aggressive vocals, which is why it is very unfortunate that this band have parted ways. The familiar tug of worldly life has successfully unraveled this killer band. Although ARSIRIUS is no more, the art that they created will stand the test of time. This is one album that is a must have for Death Metal fans.<
