Trenchslayer
Ardityon

ARDITYON were formed back in 2017 in Venice, Italy. This is their second full-length album and first since 2019's self-titled debut. So what's with Italy bringing metal to the masses the last few decades, they can easily compete with countries like Sweden, Finland, Germany amongst countless others. We had some really great releases in the last few years by bands like ELVENKING, RHAPSODY OR FIRE and TRICK OR TREAT and now we can obviously add ARDITYON to the mix. The one thing that really strikes me is the diversity of this album, no song is the same and it's really tough to pinpoint a style, a genre for them. There is a little bit of everything throw in for good measure. It may or may not lack the focus on something specific but I can live with that. Each song is it's own story, it's own genre or subgenre. They do not stick to one particular genre and focus on writing good songs with different elements from a quantity of bands.
I did not have any preconceived notion beforehand and that's probably the best way to listen to the band. At times, you can hear the Tim Owens-led JUDAS PRIEST era, sometimes it's the old school vibe of the Rob Halford era of the band. Sometimes you have some downright progressive metal elements that could be akin to DREAM THEATER. You can have the dark and gloomy yet powerful songs that remind me of ANGEL DUST or early NEVERMORE. Some songs are actually very accessible to the masses, look I wouldn't say it's AOR or Adult Oriented Metal but it's something that I could hear on the Hard Rock radio stations in Canada and the USA. Valeriano de Zordo is a very capable vocalist yet at times, I would love to see a bit more of range, he sings almost on the same tone all album long which is fine but at times, it feels tedious at best. He has a great voice and some charisma that's for sure but it felt like he is going through the motions. He does adapt well from song to song because everything song is quite different from the other yet I feel there is room to grow but you don't get bored that much even though it feels repetitive.
The production is very very good for an unsigned and independent band. It's impressive what the new technology that is upon us and we can use and they are a fine example of that. I was gladly impressed on my long walk when listening to this album on my earbuds, it felt uber professional, props to them. You got to love that album cover, it feels like a mix of Spawn and old school Megadeth album covers, the album artist did a fine job and I would love to see anything else he has done throughout the years that's for sure. Italy's finest import other than Wine is definitely good music and ARDITYON bring something refreshing, giving the listener something different from song to song and not staying in the same path which is a testament of a very promising band.
