Andi Deris & The Bad Bankers - Million Dollar Haircuts On Ten Cent Heads album cover

Andi Deris was vocalist of the well-known band PINK CREAM 69 and since 1994 has been fronting HELLOWEEN. Within his solo career he released 2 solos albums: 1997's "1000 Years Away" and "Good Bye Jenny". Following the formation of another sort of a solo act, ANDI DERIS & THE BAD BANKERS have just released a new album "Million Dollar Haircuts On Ten Cent Heads".

"Cock" started pretty strong as a heavy number, vocals delivered by modern means, over all finding a shared similarity to ROB ZOMBIE. "Will We Ever Change" is rather diverse, starting as a marsh and finding its way to new boundaries, Deris keeping his voice constant, same old recognizable pattern. "Banker's Delight (Dead Or Alive)" has stronger riffs and creative ideas that might send you to OZZY OSBOURNE's later solo albums. "Blind" is quite a good one with acoustic guitars at beginning and Deris's amazing performance akin to early HELLOWEEN ballads then it is up to additional powerful riffs and a hell of a catchy chorus. "Don't Listen To The Radio (TWOTW 1938)" actually made me fall for this album in the first place, kind of commercial stuff with a Heavy Metal thunder, catchy tune with awesome melodies, rather of the later HELOWEEN style. The same style is listenable on "EnAmoria" but it came out as a Rocker. "Who Am I" creates another memorable Rock edge with a smashing chorus "The Last Days Of Rain" attains itself as a six pounder of heaviness with amazing energies. Also worth to listen are: "I Sing Myself Away" presenting a smoldering feel with acoustic guitars, "This Could Go On Forever" seething a modern Metal number and "Must Be Dreaming" as not your average modern Metal and Rock song with interesting structure.

"Million Dollar Haircuts On Ten Cent Heads" is quite an energetic and melodic delivery of Rock and Metal. Unknown if it is an actual solo of Deris or not, but still a surprising outcome.  Surely all fans of Heavy Metal, Hard Rock and melody with modern echoes wouldn't be disappointed of this CD. Highly recommend.
