Fast Lane
Alpha Destroyer

Alpha Destroyer is a new supergroup featuring of Martin Sweet (Crash Diet),Kelly Lemieux of Buckcherry and Eric Sexton Dorsett of Sleepless. The band was made up over 4 years of late night riffs, stories & mutual respect while aboard The Monsters Of Rock Cruise.Alpha Destroyer. The bands sound is best described as modern heavy metal with a sharp melodic edge. The bands line up is completed by Kevin Hahn and Ryan Mcphail who have decades of experience. The influences for this album come from heavy rock, classic rock and progressive doom.
A fast and heavy tempo “Straight Into The Grind” with fast guitar riffs, fast drums and gritty vocals start "Fast Lane” off with a bang an old school thrash style track with a modern edge.”Masterplan” which is next up is another heavy metal number which has some heavy guitar riffs, a track which is nothing that I haven’t heard before, just an average album filling track. With a nice deep bass line, bolder guitar riffs “Dirt In The Ground” is a great slice of modern hard rock,”Labotomized” has some bold rhythm tones, complete with a solid, bold guitar presence, also the vocal oozes attitude. The progressive doom influence is the foundation of “Transmission”, the slow heavy tempo, which picks up pace in the chorus has solid guitar runs entwined with the solid rhythm the backbone of the track.
The title track “Fastlane” has a heavy flavour which gallops along at a medium pace, which is ok but I was expecting as the title of the track suggests something more high octane with a faster tempo which maybe sounds this way to catch you off guard.”Sweet Dreams From Oblivion” gives me Megadeth vibes with Eric Sexton Dorsett’s gritty, raspy vocal, with the whole sound of the track also getting me into that mindset with “Manic Messiah” also having the same effect albeit the latter having more melodic touches.”Conspiracy” sees Alpha Destroyer delivering another heavy offering which is one of the better tracks on the album with some thunderous pounding drums from the offset, with catchy heavy riffs and a headbanging, fist pumping chorus. The closing track entitled “The Prophet” is a dark heavy number to end this album which has a heavy rhythm & groove with some nice guitar runs
“Fast Lane” on reflection has a few good tracks which I found to be on the whole a modest listen for a super group project, but I have heard better collaborations. This album has some good moments, but some others I found just to be average sounding tracks ,which I would not listen to again. For me overall it was just an average release which could have been a better one.
