Before Our Eyes
Alliance

Alliance with a 30 years history of collaborations are back with their seventh studio album “Before Our Eyes”. This is their first album for seven years with their last release “Fire And Grace” which is preceded by “Road To Heaven” (2008),Destination Known (2007),”Missing Piece” (1999), “Bond Of Union” in 1996 & ”Alliance” in 1991.For the new album, the core of the band remains the same with guitarist Gary Pihl (Boston), drummer David Lauser (Sammy Hagar) and bassist Robert Berry (3, GTR). After Sammy Hagar stopped his solo career to join Van Halen, his drummer David Lauser, along with guitarist Gary Pihl still longed for the allusive missing pieces for a new project outside of their main gigs.
“Tell Somebody” opens the album with a bluesy vibe and melody, chugging riffs, with vibrant harmonies, that sounds sweet coming through my speakers.”Nothing Will Make You Change” with its slight slower tempo, but the momentum is carried on via the big chorus which stands toe to toe with some of those great AOR bands, nostalgic sound, but blended with fresh, modern melodies. Then the funkier. more blues infused “Too Many People” with it's catchy infectious swagger and groove is followed by “Face Of Justice” which features a banjo which sounds really cool introduced at the right times within the track.”Good Life” has an intro similar to “Won't Get Fooled Again” by The Who before launching into a feel good vibe rock track which would have had heavy air play in the 80's due to its appeal.
”Joan Of Arc” a more acoustic guitar track, with deep bass groove, a great anthemic chorus full of love.”Can't Stop Messin” with its heavier riffs plus groove is a fun track which has a ZZ Top aurora about it with an exquisite guitar solo courtesy of Gary Pihl . “Right” grows bigger as the track progresses,Robert Berry gives the track groove with the deep bass chords & raw vocals.”100 Sad Goodbyes” an mainly acoustic based AOR track is the power ballad, the emotional highlight of the album.”Tonight” after it's moody start is a straight forward anthemic hard rock track which cries to be blasted out loudly,”A Bone To Chew On” concludes the album with it's foot stomping rhythm & blues driven fire & heart.
“Before Our Eyes” is a solid album with it's nostalgic sound ,which has great musicianship and experience which shines through the album. 11 great tracks which still have a fresh & current appeal today without feeling stuck in the past. An album which deserves to be heard, admired & appreciated.
