Finland doesn't seem to get enough of having Black Metal bands, may they be the truest of musicians or the most watered down you'll ever let in your year. ALGHAZANTH, a Symphonic Black Metal outfit has come to us in late December 2013 with yet another album entitled "The Three-Faced Pilgrim" after 6 previous releases, all having received great reception and respect in the underground. However, this album in particular happens to be okay, and nothing to astound an outsider to the band's style of music.

"The Three Faced Pilgrim" is equipped with 6 tracks that follow a very typical pattern of music, each aimed at one particular audience, and the one that seeks a lo-fi produced symphonic bliss ALGHAZANTH has been blessing us with since their inception.

What to expect from such a release? Well, for one, ALGHAZANTH is one of the Finnish masterminds in Black Metal music, I'd name so many bands that harvest your souls with their raw formula such as HORNA and BEHEXEN, and I'd name a lot with epic atmospherics such as BAPTISM, but with Symphonic Black Metal, one would have to resort to ALGHAZANTH for the perfect example (alongside many others of course).

All that said, why would I give this release an above average score and not a very perfect one? Well, it's a great release, but it's limited to a certain audience which is the ALGHAZANTH tribe, with no particular changes in formula and playing style at all. The album is the perfect typical album if you're following the band... if not, you may want to check out previous albums to get into the band's magnificent style.
