Alessandro Nunziati is a creative Metalhead from Italy. He is a multi instrumentalist, a singer, composer and a producer. The whole package. Better known in some circles as Lord Vampyr, he is releasing his third album as a solo artist named Kill Or Be Killed. We start the album with “This Is War” and you get immediately punched in the face with a solid Thrash/Black Metal in the veins of VENOM and SLAYER. We follow with the also energetic “Screams In The Fog” and it is impressive tue chops presented by Alex (the name helps). Great guitar riff and the song structure on this one reminds me of SEPULTURA. The singing is also good with just the enough and appropriate vocal range for the genre. No high screams or backing vocals. We reach a more gloomy mood on “Kill Or Be Killed” that names the album.

With a somber introduction, the artist explores different faces of the genre with the same power and intensity. Alex does not only impress on the guitars, but also on the drums. He is a hell of a Metal drummer as you can hear on “After The War” that is another thrashy as fuck tune. He also is known by many names and bands like MALAMORTE, THEATRES DES VAMPIRES and the more well known LORD VAMPYR to name a few, meaning he is a well seasoned musician. Just listen to the killer guitar solo in “Revolution”. The album goes from Trash to Black Metal back and forward in every song, so there is something that will please (almost) every fan oif the genre. We reach “Impending Catastrophe” that has an interesting guitar riff and tempo and is full of Cronos vibes. We go back to a more trashy tune with “Human Devastation” that is another in your face track with a nice bass line and arrangement. It also had a creative mid section where the tempo changes for guitar shenanigans.

The production is not top notch, but is also not bad. You can clearly hear all the instruments (with the usual hidden bass) and there is no frills or intricate orchestration. The songs are direct and the energy is released immediately. We end our journey with “Manipulation of Weak Minds” and the energy is still there. No softness allowed and the riffs are still solid. Impressive work for a solo do it all kind of guy. If you don't play well with other band members, do it yourself ,and that is what Alex has done in this album with competence.
