Aittala - Live To Regret album cover

The trio of AITTALA has been on the road for a while since they first demo was out back in 1993, the band took a moment and returned in 2008 and from there they are reaching now their 6th Full-length-album entitled "Live to Regret" via EXITUS STRATAGEM RECORDS. The band that has the roots at Raleigh / Apex, North Carolina explore the darker side of human nature about lyrics having of course inspiration on pandemic times and sail thru Heavy, Stoner and Doom Metal genres. About the mixing and mastering of the new work, the vocals sound a little low for me, but any else looks fine.

The opener of eleven tracks we shall go thru carries the name of the album, "Live to Regret" starts with a smooth rhythm led by the bass, which is sustained throughout its duration, the feeling of the band seeking to play the listener at a reflexive moment is evident through the lyrics and weight of the instruments, feeling that will follow throughout the experience until it ends. Next up we have "Collateral Damage" and "War of Attrition" two nice songs showing up a very classical Heavy metal while "Saint" dive into a doomier element, in my opinion when the band choose to follow that path here things go on a higher way, even have a better match with lyrics, this song is really great.  Another thing I liked here is the weight that bass has, I believe the trio worked very well this topic mainly "Betrayed".

"Big Brother" brings again the right spot, sunk in Doom. "Dancing with Disaster" chooses to start with a nice and short drum solo and "Juliet (2022)" closes the work bringing tons of emotions out. As I mention before, the album is good, could be better if band has explored more the Doom and less Heavy, but surely it worth to check out.
