ACAUSAL INTRUSION is a technical death metal band that started in 2020 and hails from the United States This is their debut album "Nulitas" released through I, Voidhanger Records on May 21^st 2021. If you usually imagine a technical death metal project going into a maelstrom of complex notes and rapid fire passages, a song like "Transcending the Veil" starts off exactly the opposite of that structure, by having a very dark and quiet intro that will remind fans of DEATH how unique those parts were, when they were brought in by Chuck Schuldiner over 25 years ago. The song does transcend into some doomier parts, almost right out of MORGION. When song decides to speed up, it has some very punchy blast beats and snare sound akin to DYING FETUS. The vocals from Cave Ritual are almost guttural, and clearly difficult to discern, but add that cavernous layer to the music.

If there was ever a psychedelic approach to this musical genre, it would be "Nexious Shapeshifters" which has arguably the most terrifying atmosphere amidst some complicated bass and guitar parts, that somehow blend in with the omnipresent violence of the drums. The song seems more like a horror soundtrack, played in a death metal fashion. For those you who are fans of VITRIOL or ORIGIN, you will have a mouth full of dissonance and absolute chaos in the form of "Qabbalistic Conjoining Existence", not only does it have the force of a world-war 2 tank coming at out, but the firepower those vehicles possess. This one tears your head off in the first minute and a half and then slows down the tempo a bit, while our ears are still ringing from the previous blasts. Just like its 2 predecessors, this is a song that goes over the 8-minute mark and shifts drastically in its approach on multiple occasions.

The number "Invocations Apprehension" has a significant title, as this time you are drawn into a NILE atmosphere of shamanic overtones. The parallel is fitting because this is a song where the middle-eastern influence is a bit more at the forefront, instead of the usual mind-blowing guitar tornado of Nythroth. There are even some parts in the song that brought me back to the early days of DEICIDE. Since it can get absolutely exhausting to hear these 2 highly-talented players go through their catatonic nature of riff-playing, a song like "Tetrahedron Quartz" was a standout for me, because it uses the elements of classic death metal of the 1990s and adds a black metal side to it. The drums still have their key role on this one, but because of the guitars and their change of tone, the song borrows from the classics, while maintaining its authenticity.

I have listened to my fair share of intense death metal bands, especially that master the technical side of it, but after 58 minutes, my entire body and soul were drained, in a good way from the art this band presents. There is an overall intensity found in all of the songs (except the occasional interludes), but you have to admire the tenacity, form and endurance these players possess to deliver this kind of music. If you were blown away like I was by VITRIOL and crave for something that has aggression, this debut album will be please you very much.
