You get really impressed as soon as you take a look at 3 LEGGED DOGG's line-up since it comprises members from most significant metal and rock bands like BLACK SABBATH, DIO, QUIET RIOT, and  RAINBOW to name a few. Due to this all-star line-up the listener has already high hopes from this album before the first musical notes reaches his ears. Taking into account the rich musical background of the band members someone would expect that the album would have strong rock/metal foundations.

The band came together when former DIO band mates Jimmy Bain and Vinny Appice talked about forming a new project band to experiment with new sounds. From the very first CD spins it is clear that the project band plays grunge following the performing style of SOUNDGARDEN. The first two tracks Frozen Summer and Give And Take Away are mid-tempo rockers that could go unnoticed. Of course, there is a great deal of musicianship with beautiful vocals and a compact rhythm section. Things get slower in the anti-war song entitled Rain On My Parade where you can enjoy another fine performance from Chas West behind the microphone. There is a DIO feeling in the next track called One Good Reason especially in the guitar groove while in Wasted Life we find minor SABBATH influences in the face of some harmonica tunes and heavy guitar riffing. By pressing next on the CD player the listener will find the pretty good guitar fills and the catchy chorus of Long Way Back From Hell and the groovy Left For Dead where there is the enjoyable sound of the bass guitar behind the solid rhythm section.  The album closes with Bring The Hammer Down where some TWISTED SISTER influences can be tracked down especially during the sing-along chorus lines.

Well, if it wasn't the longevity of the band members in the metal scene we would talk about a band with a hopeful future. However, 3 LEGGED DOGG isn't a new kid in the block but it counts some decades of history and this can only bring disappointment to the listener who is expecting something more than some moderate songs. On the hand, you can really enjoy the album if you stick on the music itself away from deep and extensive album reviews written by old-timers like me.
