Harry: Friday; The last work day of the week. The skies had "opened" and pouring rain had made Athens looking like a big lake. But that wasn't enough to stop us from attending SODOM's appearance in Athens. So, after me and Caterina had finished the interview with Tom Angelripper that you will read soon we went to An club just while RELEASED ANGER was playing their third song. You see rain and traffic are two words that always come together. Fortunately Panos was there for METAL TEMPLE, so on with the report!

(Unfortunately OVEGARVEN never made it to Athens due to problems beyond their powers and had to cancel their appearance. Next time guys.)

Panos: With no delay and exactly on time the first supporting act CONVICTED, a pure thrash Metal trio from Volos, Greece, started their live performance. My fellow countrymen were very energetic and did their best to warm up the fans focusing their setlist on songs from their recently released debut album. In the beginning An Club was half empty but as time passed by more and more fans gathered and gradually the reactions from them were becoming better showing their support to the band. CONVICTED, in their almost 30 min set, managed to warm up the fans and deservedly won the applause of the audience. I should also note that in their last song the first of the many mosh pits of the night took place

Panos: An Club was becoming more and more crowed , in a soon to be a sold out gig and another thrash band from Greece RELEASED ANGER took the stage. The band is well known and very appreciated among the Greek thrash Metal fans having released really good material. RELEASED ANGER were full of energy putting on a solid and impressive performance playing songs from all of their releases. From the beginning till the end of their live set many mosh pits were formed and that really tells everything about their performance. The fans were very supportive, many knew the songs of the band, and generally everyone really enjoyed seeing them live. After 40 minutes of really good performance the band left the stage winning the warm applause of a fully satisfied audience.

Harry: So after a short break and a couple (or more) beers, we were ready to see SODOM live once more. The power trio came on stage and with no relays started bombing us. First strike was "The Saw Is the Law" and from the first notes An club became a huge mosh pit! The band was in a great form and just by looking at their faces, you knew that they were having a great time, like we were. They continued with "The Vice of Killing" from "Code Red", which I lost most of the song trying to find my camera that I lost in the mosh pit trying to get some pictures. Bobby was taking poses all the time, in a good way, and making funny faces all the time, playing with the fans. Tom also was energetic, talking with the crowd and throwing water in the front rows.

The Sodomaniacs were ecstatic! To tell you the truth, I haven't seen a crowd like that for a long time! I don't think that there is a single person that wasn't pushed or pushed someone, or that he/she didn't have some bruises the next day! If we want to complain about something is that they didn't play "Nuclear Winter", but you can't complain after such a performance! The sound for the standards of the club was great. There are so many small moments from this live that I need a whole day to write them down. But one of the best was when they started playing "Remember The fallen" stopped and we started singing it a cappella with the band watching us until the first break!

Whoever changed his/her mind and didn't come to An club that Friday night because "I saw then in the past. Why should I go again?" missed one of the best gigs of this winter. As for the rest of us, we will have another gig to remember, having a big silly smile on our faces! Looking forward to seeing them again.

PS: As I found out, in Thessaloniki they also played "Tired And Red", "Obsessed By Cruelty" and "In War And Pieces". And as Monty Python would say: "You lucky bastards".
