Death Metallers SANGRENA, a band from a town called Amparo, situated around 90kms from Sao Paulo City were having a release party for their first full album entitled "Black Blessed Spirit" in another town nearby called Itapira and they invited a few other bands to share the stage with them in this so special night for them, on the bill were CIRCLE OF INFINITY, SKINLEPSY, GESTOS GROSSEIROS and SINAYA.

The chosen venue was the VIP Bar, a very good place indeed, very underground with the stage located very high, a very good bar and cool people running it, the first band to open the party was SINAYA an all girl band from Sao Paulo City playing Death Metal and very aggressive approach, Although this night for some unforeseen reason they had lost their guitarist but were fortunate enough to find a last minute replacement albeit a male instead, but nevertheless he fulfilled the expectations and begun their onslaught with "Intro" followed by "Pure Hate" the crowd did enjoy their display of power, vocalist Mylena was screaming her guts out, bassist Tamyris Leopoldo was devastating like a maniac and drummer Isabela showed a great deal of energy and skills hitting the skins. They even played "Arise" by SEPULTURA and "Stripped, Raped And Strangled" by CANNIBAL CORPSE.

A very good set indeed, unfortunately for us just prior to writing this review I heard the news that SINAYA had split up and the three members that performed this show are going on to form another band, good luck for them with this new endeavour.

Next on the bill was Gestos Grosseiros a Death Metal band from Sao Paulo City, they play straight forward Death Metal at times sounding like AUTOPSY, actually they are a three man band and also they had some kind of trouble with the bass player and he did not show up therefore we had a two piece band, Kleber on the guitars and Andy Souza on the drums and vocals, actually their performance turned out to be quite good despite not having a bass player, sharp guitars and guttural vocals, they did pull that out indeed and showed a high level of professionalism and the crowd really appreciated their effort. Their set begun with "Hate Against" followed by "Mirror Of Death" very interesting music indeed, I always like a band where the drummer sings, awesome stuff.

GESTOS GROSSEIROS translated to English means; RUDE GESTURE, they did have a great show and kicked some asses in the process, it was the first time ever that I saw a band with no bass player and still ruled. Well done!!!

SANGRENA were the next to step on the stage and they were hungry for blood, after all, this was their party, actually this was one of the many dates they are doing in Sao Paulo State this month, by this time the crowd was very anxious to see what they had to offer and they begun they butchery with "Infernal Domination" showing that they mean business they lost no time with "Land Of Scorn". These guys have been around since 1998 and they have not lost touch with their roots with an old school sound and also very aggressive as well, Luciano Fedel on the bass and vocals and his crew, Gustavo Bunfa on guitars, Alan Marques on the drums and Fabio Ferreira on guitars did not want to waste any time because they were on mood party. Last time I saw them a few weeks ago they were pretty good and this time was no different, the whole set was actually their new album "Blessed Black Spirit" everyone was happy at the end of their set, awesome stuff!!!

Next on the bill was CIRCLE OF INFINITY a band from Limeira not far from Itapira and these guys wanted to kick some asses, they came out from studios to give the welcome to SANGRENA's new album and they begum their set with the infamous "Intro" and Edson "Big Foot" Moraes was already screaming like a pig ready for the kill, " Circle Of Therapy" got the crowd asking for more and they gave them "Moments Of Evil" and everyone was pretty happy, but all hell broke loose when they played their version of S.O.D. "Speak English Or Die", everyone pushing around, very cool stuff. As usual Mateus Paiva, Alan Morbid, Bruno Conan and Big Foot played their instruments to the limits and giving yet another good performance.

The last band for the night was SKINLEPSY a Thrash Metal band formed in 2003 from Sao Paulo City and with influences like: PANTERA, EXODUS, MACHINE HEAD, SLAYER thus having the job to send the crowd home with a big smile on their faces. the assault begun with "Crucial Words" and everyone felt like '"Crawling Like Worms" fast pace and guttural vocals sounding more like a Death Metal band, they did have a tidy set, I think the remaining of the crowd had a pretty good time indeed with SKINLEPSY.

These three piece band with Andre Gubber on vocals and guitars, Luis Berenguer on the bass and Evandro Jr on the skins thrashed like maniacs and I am sure that SANGRENA were happy to have these nut cases on the bill, a very good evening indeed it was and a big thanks to all the people who have turned up and those who have helped organizing this memorable event.
