Friday the 13th is lucky for some and extremely unlucky for others and it's set out to be a mixed night for those in Nottingham. MONSTER MAGNET play Nottingham on the first date of their UK tour supported by Swedish metallers BOMBUS and rock group PROSPERINA. The dreary night starts off quiet but ends up to be a show that truly goes out with a bang, proving that heavy metal certainly isn't dead.

Upon entering the venue it's hard to tell if this is a well sold night but seeing plenty of fans buying tickets at the box office was a promising, especially for a night where most people are superstitious. But at 6.45pm Swansea quarter PROSPERINA head onto the stage with their unique sound to a very small audience which soon grew larger through the set. Vocalist and guitarist Gethin Woolcock is certainly a front man you need to witness for your own eyes, heavily passionate about his vocals and guitars which is inspiring for newer fans of the band but drummer Chris Dean is certainly fun to watch whilst he bashes away at the drums. PROSPERINA is a hard band to compare to any other but if you enjoy music like MASTODON and SAVIOURS then you would enjoy PROSPERINA without a doubt.

Next up is Swedish heavy metal group BOMBUS who certainly crack off set with a bang to accompany their rough and angry sound. They look like a band you would meet in a murky bar but be sure to see them on a big stage soon with how excited they get the crowd, all the members are participants in making this show something you will never forget. If someone asks you to describe a typical metal vocalist then BOMBUS'S vocalist Matte is who you would describe, long hair and a flying V to accompany his growling vocals which enhances his ways to get the audience clapping along even if it's the first time they've heard of them. By the end of their 30 minute set they woo'd Rock City's audience into a dedicated fan base with their charm and unique metal style which you could only find in Sweden.

Next up is the headlining act MONSTER MAGNET who have the crowd already chanting their name well before anyone has entered the stage. Accompanied by psychedelic yet dark lighting and a dedicated fan base filling the room, MONSTER MAGNET have started off their UK segment of their tour in a spectacular way. Guitarist Phil Caivano is someone who can easily distract you from watching the rest of the set with his whirring riffs and stage presence and when paired with Dave Wyndorf they make a pair of such talent. Friday the 13th proved lucky for the psychedelic rockers with the audience singing along to every word in the set including ''Dopes To Infinity'', ''Last Patrol'' and fan favourite ''Space Lord''. You could easily see the smile on Dave Wyndorf's face when every sentence he sang was sung by the enthusiastic crowd. MONSTER MAGNET have proved that heavy metal aint dead with tonight's dynamic set list.

Setlist:
1. The Right Stuff
2. Dopes To Infinity
3. Look To Your Orb For The Warning
4. Twin Earth
5. I Live Behind The Clouds
6. Last Patrol
7. Spine of God
8. End Of Time
9. Stay Tuned
10. Three Kingfishers
11. Tractor
12. Space Lord

Despite the show being a slow stater in terms of crowd participation and size, Rock City filled out to the brim with hard rock fans on a dull night in Nottingham. All bands performed spectacularly but BOMBUS had a certain spark to make them really stand out from all bands playing though MONSTER MAGNET had a great old school vibe to their set.
