To have the first date on a UK tour to completely sell out with other dates following is an achievement in itself, MEMPHIS MAY FIRE have started off their 8 date tour in Birmingham to a sold out 02 Academy with diehard fans queuing all around the block. MEMPHIS MAY FIRE take local band CYOTA and Japanese power punk group FACT along for the tour which both make distinct impressions on the fans.

First on stage is CYOTA who bring a mix of melodic Hardcore with hints of Pop Punk, they have a very short slot but manage to get the crowd clapping along after the first few songs. CYOTA are a carefully blended mix of UK melodic Hardcore and pop punk which makes the energy within the band even better to watch live but when hearing their music it frustrates you when you feel like something is missing but you simply can't figure out what.
 

Next up is Japanese band FACT which is a band you cannot fit into a singular genre, barely any of the audience know them but they got everyone energetic for the rest of the bands of the night, FACT are melodic Hardcore with power pop incorporated with their Japanese lifestyle which is so energetic it could make you have a seizure. FACT are a must see band for their live performance as it's impossible to compare to anyone else you've seen before.
 

One of the most anticipated bands of the night, THE WORD ALIVE finally appear on stage after a slight delay but the sold out venue went absolutely wild for them anyway. Playing a mix of old and new tracks such as ''2012'', ''Dragonspell'' and ''Play The Victim'' which had mosh pits sprouting everywhere and crowd surfers suddenly emerging from all sides of the room which certainly kept security busy throughout. Vocalist Telle Smith is a vocalist full of energy and his screams are better than they have ever been but the same cannot be said for his clean vocals which sound extremely strained at some points but the rest of the band put on a show to envy headline band MEMPHIS MAY FIRE with how excited they got the crowd. THE WORD ALIVE are such a hard working band and always pulling out new tricks, certainly a band to see live.
 

After what seems the longest wait for a band to come on stage which is only made worse by the exciting lights that kept hinting that they were about to start, MEMPHIS MAY FIRE took over the stage with an exciting beginning. Fans were screaming as soon as they entered the stage and crowd surfers began surging forward as soon as the first verse of ''The Sinner'' began to play followed by fan favourites ''Vices'' and ''No Ordinary Love'', the band were bouncing all around the stage providing entertainment for everyone involved. Vocalist Matty Mullins vocals were excellent and guitarist Kellen McGregor was running all over the stage performing fans favourite songs but all members have their own special skills which stand out from the rest.

For a first night of tour, MEMPHIS MAY FIRE completely over ruled the venue with its high energy performance and diehard fan base helping them out with vocals, THE WORD ALIVE proved they were defiantly a band to keep an eye out for with CYOTA and FACT following that too.
