With GWAR being the most influential bands deriving from Richmond, Virginia; without a doubt, they have to throw a barbeque and fake blood to keep the mojo going. This year marks the 6th annual 2015 GWAR-BQ with special guests on August 24, 2015. Hosted by GWAR and stage performer/adult film star Samantha Mack. For those who have not attended a previous GWAR-BQ, you are definitely missing out.
As folks enter Hadad's Lake from the cornfield parking lot, the day kicks off with up to twenty bands performing on the Slutman Pavilion and the Slaughterama Stage almost simultaneously. Fans are rewarded a gift bag sponsored by Monster Energy Drink during a raffle that was giving out by Samantha Mack as she calls in the next band to perform and making graphic "for adults-only" jokes. There are also plenty of vendors with GWAR gear and other cool merchandise that feature your favorite bands.
Another thing that was different from previous GWAR-BQ's was the fact that this year has a rapper that does character voice overs for Adult Swim cartoons such as Aqua Teen Hunger Force as "MC Pee Pants". The most anticipated bands at GWAR-BQ were DOWN, CLUTCH and GOATWHORE respectively. All three bands finally made their first appearance on the GWAR-BQ stage.
With a large crowd anticipating, GOATWHORE takes the Scumdog Stage to perform the sounds of Black Metal.
After downing a bottle of what seems to be vodka, Phil Anselmo and his fellow band members took the stage to rock the "NOLA" deep southern tunes "Eyes of the South", "Witchtripper" and "We Knew Him Well".
Next, CLUTCH opens up their set with "Gravel Road". Their set includes a newly titled track "X-Ray Visions" from their upcoming album in October 2015.
GWAR takes the stage, but not as the headlining performer as they usually do at past shows. Sleazy P. Martini addresses the crowd before GWAR performs "Madness at the Core of Time" from their thirteenth studio album "Battle Maximus". With fake blood spewing all over the crowd (even us photographers), GWAR closed their show with "Sick of You" from their second studio album "Scumdogs of the Universe".
Finally, THE DESCENDANTS performs to close out the 6th annual GWAR-BQ event at Hadad's Lake. For fans that have never been to a GWAR-BQ, get ready for fun in the sun and a day of great music.
