It has been a couple of years since the legendary Death Metal titans toured the United Kingdom, from last time we were given one of the strongest tours they had ever done over here, but now we see a tour that has been able to top that. How can that be possible you may ask well? Very simple, for this time we have been given a tour that features various elements of the musical branch and as such when you have a various amount of different bands playing you can appreciate each one for their unique qualities.
So lets get this show started shall we? We begin with American Death Metal heavyweights FALLUJAH, a band that have made a name for themselves quite fast since their debut release in 2011, "The Harvest Wombs", their show consisted of some of the finest raw energy that could be found that night, since the last time these guys hit our shores with SUFFOCATION it seems that they have become stronger as a band as well a live act. When it comes to the fierce and relentless power of traditional Death Metal these guys show what it is all about by bringing their strongest game to the table, if anything this was certainly a band I was very excited to see again as from last time. I would say that with what they brought to Manchester these guys have one of hell of a future in the world of extreme music and if you are a fan of fast, powerful and aggressive tunes then this is certainly a band I would suggest.
We continue with something very different to the bands that follow this tours lineup Sheffield's own MALEVOLENCE. Now I didn't really know what to expect from this band to be very fair as I had ever really heard of these guys until the tour was announced but from watching them I think they have something unique but at the same time I did not really feel anything for them. I felt that although they are able to mix Hardcore with Thrash in some sense I felt that this band could have done better, now don't get me wrong I can appreciate a band that puts the effort in. To conclude I felt a bit disappointed in their set but as long as their fans enjoyed themselves I guess that is what really matters at the end of the day.
We now come to a band that knows how to bring power and destruction into one show the mighty
GOATWHORE!. From the start of this bands set you knew what was going to go down, relentless raw powerful energy shot out like a steel ball from a canon ready to explode.
GOATWHORE's legacy of Blackened Death Metal with thrash influences brings everything together in one room full of maniacs ready to tear each other limb from limb, and although the band only had ten songs to perform they made them count as any person who attended their set will know, when it comes to intense riffing nothing comes close to
Sammy Duet's dark and destructive speed on stage as well as the ripping madness of
Ben Falgousts destructive lungs, all in all I thought personally that
GOATWHORE brought an amazing show to Manchester as well as bringing everything they had onto the stage.
Setlist:
1. Poisonous Existence In Reawakening
2. In Deathless Tradition
3. An End to Nothing
4. FBS
5. Cold Earth Consumed in Dying Flesh
6. Alchemy of the Black Sun Cult
7. Nocturnal Conjuration of the Accursed
8. Schadenfreude
9. Baring Teeth For Revolt
10. Apocalyptic Havoc
So we come to the grand finale ladies and gentlemen: the mighty DYING FETUS! So as with any FETUS show we can expect to see a crowd preparing for all out war and that folks is exactly what happened, The crowd's energy is shown as the band bring what they are best known for and that is in fact bringing speed and pain to a new meaning, this can definitely be said for any fan who was a part of the slaughter. With any DYING FETUS show you wil always need to be prepared for the unexpected as this was indeed a celebration of brutal madness at it's finest. I can definitely say that with this show the band brought everything out onto one stage as it shows that their massive energy brought the crowd to bring their A game as well, and what really makes a Death Metal gig a Death Metal gig is when both the crowd and the band bring this unison of energy which eclipses everything else from stress to suffering. This was truly an altar to sacrifice everything else and let a new emotion take control.
To conclude: from this very show we saw that DYING FETUS are showing no signs of slowing down, in fact it looks to me as if the band is speeding up with age meaning this machine of brutality is still bringing everything they have and more!!
