An incredible return for one of the most infamous bands in Power Metal DRAGONFORCE bring us the power within with a maximum overdrive boost.
It has been a fair few years since Manchester saw the likes of DRAGONFORCE, during this time the band was supporting their then release "The Power Within", what is to be said was one of their most incredible feats to date. Now we enter a new era with the release of "Maximum Overload" and with any new record comes a tour sure enough, but this tour would prove to a very up and close experience with the band.
As the show begins we hear the clap of thunder from the audience awaiting for what would be one of the most anticipated shows of the month, as the band approaches the stage people let loose their excitement as the band heads into the first track of the evening Defenders.
Throughout the band's set we see the shaking of the top floor from a force pounding reaction from the audience, as I was in the top booth watching from above even I could feel the shaking beneath my feet. It made me think if the floor would ever cave in but at the same time seeing that much power in the crowd really would put you in the spirit, seeing the stage rocking back and forth made it seem as if the band was surfing through the audience the whole time.
Throughout the show the band would start to interact with the audience both on the balcony and in the crowd, but the best would be near the end when the band blasted into their most recognized song "Through the Fire and Flames", as the song started Herman Li, Sam Totman, and Mark Hudson would climb onto the bar table and bring a more definitive term to up close and personal, the show itself was by far one of the most unique and by far entertaining I have ever seen. To be fair this was my first time experiencing such a performance as this. Whatever the future brings now for the band is yet to be seen, but if they can keep to this degree of performance then the future is looking pretty damn good for this British Power Metal monster.
