A day and an afternoon as hot as Hell in Rio de Janeiro preceded a killing show on Teatro Odisséia, for it was the return of DESTRUCTION to the city after one year after Rock in Rio Festival, having home based Thrash killers from FORKILL as opening act. But as well was time for VICIOUS RUMORS coming too on another venue, and at the same day. But thanks to the efforts of Roberto Pascarella (from Blog'n'Roll Produções) and Sílvio Rocha (from Open the Road Agency), they made two events apart become only one. Thanks a lot, and maybe some new efforts in this way can be done, for the sake of Rio de Janeiro's Headbangers.

The first name of the night was from U.S. Metallians from VICIOUS RUMORS.

With the founding members Geoff Thorpe (guitars, backing vocals) and Larry Howe (drums, backing vocals), along with the newcomers Nick Holleman (lead vocals), Tilen Hudrap (bass, backing vocals) and Bob Capka (guitars), the quintet wanted blood, and they got it!

Playing loud and clear, as heavy as an anvil, the guys showed a great live performance, moving along the stage, having great communication with the public, along with great sympathy, the band conquered all the fans inside Teatro Odisséia. Geoff and Larry were powerhouses on the stage, with amounts of energy that no money in the world could pay, as Tilen and Bob were banging their heads and moving a lot, and Nick is a great frontman, singing in a way like Rob Halford, with very good high tunes.

Old guys? No Way!

These maniacs from U.S. Metal unleashed a furious show, playing songs and hymns from their long career as "Digital Dictator", "Worlds and Machines" and "Hellraiser". And as they ended their live shot, he idea is that time didn't pass for these Metal maniacs.

Hope to see them again soon, with a long set, and a better crowd (yes, the audience was not as great as it could be).

Praised by the public, they came to the front of the stage to greet their fans.

Setlist:

1. Minute to Kill
2. Lady Took a Chance
3. Worlds and Machines
4. Abandoned
5. On the Edge
6. World Church
7. Murderball
8. Don't Wait for Me
9. Down to the Temple
10. Hellraiser
11. Soldiers of the Night

A time for preparations, then Big Daddy here was invited to go to the stage and say few words about the next band: the Guanabara Bay Metal Thrasher Rabbits from FORKILL.

Yes, Joe Neto (guitars, vocals), Ronnie Giehl (guitars), Gus "Guzzy" Nascimento (bass) and the newcomer Alex Fersan (drums) form a quartet that plays Thrash Metal in the same vein from TESTAMENT and SLAYER, having "Kilminsterian" vocals and play heavy and furious, like a powerhouse of Metal. And they are wild on the stage, with very good attitude and great communication with the public.

They played their set based upon "Breathing Hate" (their first album, released last year), with songs like the excellent "Vendetta" and "The Joker", and new songs from the coming album, as "In Your Face" and "Let There Be Thrash". These songs show that FORKILL is going into something between more modern and violent Thrash Metal, but with a bit of old Metal and Rock'n'Roll elements.

They play very good, and hope to see these Thrasher Rabbits again very soon!

Setlist:

1. Breathing Hate
2. Vendetta
3. The Joker
4. In Your Face
5. Let There be Thrash
6. Lucyfer Tears

After FORKILL show, the public outside the venue started to enter, so the main question is: why in the blazes you pay to see three bands, and just want to see one? Fear of liking other bands?

After a little time for preparations, the lights turned off, and then an intro started to play, and then, the fathers of German Thrash Metal came to the stage to unleash Hell again on the city: DESTRUCTION was on the stage!

Schmier (vocals, bass), Mike (guitars) and Vaarver (drums) showed that they are not famous and loved the way they are for a mere causality, unleashing a perfect and insane show, besides some problems happened with Mike's guitars: during "Total Desaster", it disappeared many times, as well on "Thrash 'till Death", and they announced "Nail to the Cross", but due the problems again, Mike and Schmier left the stage and Vaarver made a very good drums solo. And after it, the things were better, with no more problems.

The band's attitude on stage is perfect, Schmier is really a great frontman, communicating a lot with the public (even speaking a lot in Brazilian Portuguese), Mike moved a lot, but concentrated in his riffs and solos (and what riffs and solos!), and Vaarver is a fine drummer, as well as he helps a lot on backing vocals.

They played a long set, besides the sound quality was not the best. Anthems like "Mad Butcher", "Eternal Ban", along with songs from their recent album, "Spiritual Genocide", as the title song and "Carnivore", showing that they do not live from their glorious past, but still records very good albums and play their songs alive. "Bestial Invasion" ended their show, but they came again for an encore and played their greater classic, "Curse the Gods", and "The Butcher is Back".

Setlist:

1. Total Desaster
2. Thrash 'Till Death
3. Drum Solo
4. Nailed to the Cross
5. Mad Butcher
6. Armageddonizer
7. Black Death
8. Eternal Ban
9. Life Without Sense
10. Spiritual Genocide
11. Release from Agony
12.Carnivore
13. Hate is my Fuel
14. Thrash Attack
15. Antichrist
16. Bestial Invasion
17. Curse the Gods
18. The Butcher Strikes Back

Another fine event, thanks a lot for Blog'n'Roll Produções and Open the Road Agency for their partnership, and hope in a future, Rio de Janeiro bangers can give themselves to like many bands…
