The venue in which the show was going to be held was called Beco and I wasn't very familiar with this place, it is a relatively small venue, which in one side is a good thing as it becomes a very intimate show. The doors were set to open at 19h but when I arrived there at around 19h30 they hadn't been open yet and I, and all other people that were waiting in line, had to wait for a whole hour before they would let us in, with that delay the bands that were to open the show, STELLA CAN and CARTEL DA CEVADA, had to cut their sets shorts. STELLA CAN is a local all-girl band comprised of Mariana Corbellini (vocals and drums), Juliana Nólibos (bass) and Luiza Gressler (guitar), they were the first band to take the stage and, although they had some small technical issues with the backing vocals and the lead vocals microphones, I thought that they were quite good, I will definitely look them up and check their stuff out, I especially loved the sound of the bass and the guitar solos. Next came CARTEL DA CEVADA being introduced by the Devil himself, they were received warmly by the crowd, with them being quite known in the local scene, they really warmed up the audience and they were quite good as well, having a good rapport with audience.
And finally, at around 23h, the moment I was waiting for finally came as the Barbs took to the stage. They played several songs from the new album "The Midnight Chase" as well as some previous classics like "Jennyfer" and "Sex Action"; they also played their cover of "Killed By Death", with guitarist Klara Force taking the lead vocals, all of them being sang along by the crowd of Metalheads. As a band you can see that they have great chemistry, playing together since 2002, Mia Coldheart (what a great stage name that is by the way) and Klara Force are beasts on the guitar.
The concert ended with Monty Python's "Sit On My Face". All in all it was a great night of great music and great fun, and I hope to catch them again next time they come here.
