Unfortunately due to some job problems I missed the first two bands, ANGSTRIDDEN and DEVATHORN. The time I entered Texas Necropolis Club, ENSHADOWED were on stage playing -probably- their first song , Suicidal Lunacy from the debut Messengers Of The Darkest Dawn. The band wore face make-up while the singer had a mantilla covering his head. ENSHADOWED -as all the times I have seen them- are quite good in what they are doing and especially when they play tunes from their first album. I must confess that the newer material do not make me hold my breath and seems like stereotyped Black_ Death surely lower quality when compared with the cold Messengers. But they stood in higher level in relation to other local bands of the same genre. They also played some new songs from a forth coming album that sometimes were close to the Satanic Art era of DODHEIMSGARD, while the MAYHEM cover although very, very good seemed that it was not discerned by the audience. Of course, if the Norwegians were onstage the crowd would feel -or better believe- something like entering an ecstasy but as I have mentioned many times the majority of the trend current following the Black Metal music has a common purpose. The creation of a specific image that when a peripheral observer looks upon must meet the Aristotle's 'whole' or 'none' that includes the everything of poser Black. O tempora, o mores.
This was the third time that I would have the luck of seeing the French ARKHON INFAUSTUS and like in the previous times I was really fired up in the end. They have this catastrophic, mentally ill, prostitution in their music that infuses distinctiveness and style. It looks like Satan is on parole somewhere in declined Parisian bars and half - lighted roads of a past time, there where the poets surrendered to discretion and passion, hymning the declension, the fall of logic and on the other side of the equilibrium the rise of the flesh. The Ominous Circle from my favorite Hell Injection is more than pleasure any time I hear it and songs like Whirlwind Journey from Perdition Insanabilis becomes more extreme on stage. ARKHON INFAUSTUS presentation was totally convincing and in the end the sickness reached the zenith without make-up or anything else. Just four people on stage. Not being something ground- breaking or one of the best bands of the genre the French know and have Satanas inside their music. And that's why I like in them.
