Kin Hell Fest kicks off again at The Vox for a bright afternoon which is full to the brim of super dark doom metal and gruesome Grindcore bands playing throughout the day. Today's headliner is blackened Grindcore group ANAAL NATHRAKH with bands joining them such as BIRDFLESH, KHUDA, HAWK EYES and so many more Metal names.

The day starts off with a big dose of Doom Metal in the form of TRUDGER who brought in sludgetastic riffs performed by guitarists Jack Kavanagh and Richard Matheson which only complemented Chris Parkinson's harsh and dark vocal range. Trudger brought in the early afternoon crowd who waited patiently for them but made the wait so worth it when fans old and new began to headbang in sync, the band replaced original announcement ESOTERIC YOUTH but they weren't missed when replaced with this spectacular band.

GETS WORSE have a gathering of fans with patches seen on their jackets & jeans so they have some notoriety. The Grindcore trio pull out all the stops when performing their super aggressive power violence sound at Kin Hell Fest, it's simply impossible to listen to this band without developing a rage within your head. The band only had a 25 minute set but it's certainly enough to impress fans who may not have listened to the chaotic band before.

Kin Hell Fest is treated to a big dosage of Sludge Doom Metal in the form of WIZARDS BEARD which makes the afternoon take on a darker tone. Vocalist Chris Hardy aggressive blackened vocal style gives WIZARDS BEARD a creative streak to it which is only enhanced by bassist Neil Traver's backing vocals which make it sound super eerie. This band is for anyone who loves great Sludge Metal with an angry edge to it to spice it up.

Talented extreme metal duo MONOLITHIAN rock the stage with their blast beated blackened doom sound from Falmouth. Simon and Shannon are a duo who doesn't need any fancy guitars or effects, they are straight up with their sound and nothing should ever added to it. If you wanna hear a band who don't mess about and just get on with it then MONOLITHIAN are what you need.

JESUS CROST decided to play their last ever gig at Kin Hell Fest which was disappointing yet great for the huge fans gathered at the venue for the band, but the Grindcore duo from the Netherlands certainly went out with a bang. The band played plenty of songs in their tiny 13 minute set but it was full of aggressive vocals, super-fast blast beats and a human pyramid conjured up by the fans nearing the end of their set. It's a pity that JESUS CROST have called it a day after 17 years but their legacy won't die with a performance as good as this.

If you don't mind getting incense smoke in your eyes then GRAVE MIASMA are gruesomely enjoyable to watch. Combining their love of smothering themselves with fake blood and blackened Death Metal which made them definitely one of the bands to watch out of every band of the day. They certainly got the crowd head banging In sync with with their dark vocals and super heavy guitars which have a eerie but extreme sound. In the wave of british black metal emerging, GRAVE MIASMA are a band you should be seeing soon.

Pulling out all the stops for their extreme aggressive sound, DEVIATED INSTINCT take over the small stage in the only way they knew how. The Norwich punks who surely have the crustiest sound of the day are so full of energy it's surprising they didn't break a bone during their performance. As some fans would say, they were as good as they were when they were a lot younger and crustier.

Next up are HAWK EYES who play a mind blowing set and their fans and possibly drunken people bring out some very retro dance moves. The English rockers had every kind of fan at their set, the diehards, the drunks and people new to them and it made it so much better. All of the band members had distinguishable energy which is hard to find in many new bands but they certainly got people warmed up for the rest of the evening.

KHUDA take themselves off the stage and onto the floor with their super intimate set with little light and a very big circular crowd. The duo who produce such a mellow yet attention catching music have Kin Hell Fest's all through their set with the rest of the venue looking extremely bare from everyone cramped in to see the musical wonder. Tom Brooke and Steve Myles experimental band certainly were the biggest highlight of the day and it would certainly be difficult to stop them.

After a stupidly long wait, blackened Grindcore band ANAAL NATHRAKH headline Kin Hell Fest, the set was explosive with new and old songs but only to be cut short to become a 30 minute set which disappointed a majority of the crowd there. Stage divers and Metalheads took over the venues floor to brutally scream the lyrics to songs such as ''Drug Fucking Abomination'' and ''Between Shit And Piss We Are Born'' which was made even better when the guitarist started playing on the floor.  The set would have been massively improved if it wasn't so late and stayed for so little time but sometimes problems arise, ANAAL NATHRAKH are certainly a band to see live.

Overall the festival felt less busy today but they surely missed out some mind-blowing bands such as KHUDA and GRAVE MIASMA but sometimes you can't beat the luck of the first night. Saturday meant more doom with a lot more alcohol but it didn't drown the sorrows of anyone.
