Waken Metal Battle Canada: Crowns Profaner 2016 Champions

Waken Metal Battle Canada2016 edition has seen over 100bands from across the countrycompete for 'One Band To Rule Them All' to performat the world's largest metal festWacken Open Air 2016in Wacken, Germany, which holds an attendance of over 80,000 metalheads. This pastSaturday, on June 11th in Toronto, ON at The Opera House, the country's top five bands,Vancouver'sThe Mountain Man(BC Winner), Edmonton'sTales of The Tomb(Prairie Winner), Hamilton'sProfanerandToronto'sPyramid Theorem(Ontario Winners)plus Montreal'sDistortHead(Quebec Winner) shredded their blood, sweat and metal for one to be crowned this year's champion.

After strong performances, the judges panel ofNoel Peters (Inertia Entertainment),Sarah Lutz (Metal Blade Canada),Darryl Hurs (Indie Week),Chris Gonda (PureGrainAudio.com),Tim Henderson (Bravewords.com),Andrew Epstein (Zombitrol Productions) andGlenn Fricker (Spectre Media Group) proclaimed Hamilton, ON'sProfaner, Wacken Metal Battle Canada's 2016 champion to join the ranks of previous national winnersVesperia(2015),MUTANK(2014) andCrimson Shadows(2013).

"After a close and epic battle our national champion that is Profaner has been yielded. We will be proud to showcase their brand of melodic death/thrash on behalf of Canadian metal to the holy fields of Wacken."
Profaner will now move on to perform at the international battle at Wacken Open Air taking place fromAugust 4-6to represent Canada among 30 other participating countries. Full detailshere. Profaner will be defending Canada's world title after Vesperia's win last year. In the last three years of Canada's participation, they have produced two world champions, Vesperia (2015) (video) and Crimson Shadows (2013) (video).
In addition to their win, Profaner will receive a drummer prize pack from Los Cabos Drumsticks that includes12 pairsof sticks of their choosing, astick bag, apractice pad,and other Los Cabos Drumsticks swagplus automatic eligibility for endorsement (full details here). Runner up was Montreal's Distorthead, they will be receiving a promotional package (valued at approximately $3k) from PureGrainAudio.com that includesavideo interview shot and edited by PureGrainAudio, afeatured contest of the band's choosing (giveaway of signed merch, music, etc.), a free song download article that's featured at the very top of PureGrainAudio's Audio section for at least 1 week, a photo shoot with the band (either a live show shoot or band pics.) andone month free web banner advertisement on the site.
