NEW ORLEANS, L.A. ' March 28, 2017 ' Blackbird Presents is proud to announce its annual "Second Weekend at the Saenger" concert series with "New Orleans Is Waiting For Columbus," set to take place Saturday, May 6th at New Orleans' historic Saenger Theatre. The all-star event celebrates Little Feat's most beloved album in their expansive catalog with never-before-heard performances from a unique lineup of artists including musical director Warren Haynes, Jamey Johnson, Dave Malone, John Medeski, Don Was, Terence Higgins, Mark Mullins and many more special guests to be announced.
Named one of the 10 best live albums of all time by Rolling Stone readers, Little Feat's Waiting For Columbus compiled live recordings from their 1977 performances at the Rainbow Theatre in London and the Lisner Auditorium in Washington, D.C. The album ' which went platinum and remains Little Feat's best-selling of all time ' features the band's biggest hits, including the funky 1970's New Orleans-style tracks such as "Dixie Chicken," "Fat Man In The Bathtub," and "Willin'."

"New Orleans Is Waiting For Columbus" will be led by musical director GRAMMY® Award-winning guitarist Warren Haynes (Gov't Mule, The Allman Brothers Band, The Dead) and GRAMMY® Award-winning producer/multi-instrumentalist Don Was, with AMC/CMA Award-winning singer songwriter Jamey Johnson, The Radiators' Dave Malone, keyboard master John Medeski, legendary funk drummer Terence Higgins (Dirty Dozen Brass Band, John Scofield's Piety Street Band), horns master Mark Mullins (Bonerama, Harry Connick Jr.), and as with all Blackbird Presents events, special surprise guests are also expected.
Keith Wortman is the event's Creator and Executive Producer. Blackbird Presents previously honored NOLA's iconic musical legacy with its sold out 2016 "The Last Waltz New Orleans: A Celebration Of The 40th Anniversary of The Last Waltz" (which then became a nationwide, sold out touring property), 2015's "Nevilles Forever: A Celebration of The Neville Brothers and Their Music," and with its 2014 "The Musical Mojo of Dr. John: Celebrating Mac and His Music."
