METAL TEMPLE'S MUST WATCH BANDS AT BLOODSTOCK 2017!

It's a metalhead's favourite time of the year (no it's not christmas) It's the run up to the UK's premier metal festival BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR! The 4 day festival feature's a wide range of metal from thrash to black metal and anything in between on multiple stages. 2017's headliners are viking metaller's AMON AMARTH, the un-holy GHOST and thrash favourite's MEGADETH. METAL TEMPLE gives you a quick read of what bands not to miss on a hot and heavy august weekend.

WHITECHAPEL ' RONNIE JAMES DIO STAGE ' FRIDAY

Ready to terrorize the festival it's deathcore group WHITECHAPEL who take over the stage on the friday, bringing the pit and the head-bang after a successful set in 2013.
The band have made a huge dent in the deathcore genre, spanning over 10 years with 5 albums with their newest release ''Mark Of The Blade'' staying true to their original sound yet showing their progression. WHITECHAPEL are a must see band at the festival if you enjoy manic pits and long growls.

DECAPITATED ' RONNIE JAMES DIO STAGE ' FRIDAY

Polish tech-death favourites DECAPITATED come back to Bloodstock this year to get the crowd warmed up and raring to go. With new album ''Anticult'' coming out in time for the festival, expect to hear plenty of new material included within a setlist of old favourites. DECAPITATED always put their most into a show so be prepared to be amazed by the heaviness.

TESTAMENT ' RONNIE JAMES DIO STAGE ' FRIDAY

One for the thrash lovers in the form of American group TESTAMENT making their first appearance at the festival since 2012. Expect a huge crowd and surges of headbanging once the thrash titans come on, they never do a dull show and a certain crowd pleasers with a set-list to make the old school and newer fans happy. Chuck Billy is one hell of a front man and he proves he's still got those signature vocals with the bands new album ''Brotherhood Of The Snake''.

AMON AMARTH ' RONNIE JAMES DIO STAGE ' FRIDAY

If you've ever been to the festival before it's impossible to deny how heavily rumoured AMON AMARTH have been for a headline slot and now 2017 is their time to shine. Get your boats and drinking horns at the ready to be headbanging to death metal like a real viking! AMON AMARTH have a varied back catalogue to shower the crowd with so it will be interesting to see what they pull out but there is no denying that everyone will be impressed.

One of the most controversial announcements of the festival, KING 810 grace the stage with their aggressive stage persona and growling vocals. The american band is certain to get conversations going and crowds splitting when they play the fest but I'm sure they'll get the metalcore & hardcore fans pitting for their set.

If you've seen the beer guzzling thrashers before then you know to expect: crowd surfers, chants and battle jackets. One of the most impressive bands to watch in 2013, this year they're expected to be better than ever especially with new album ''Slime And Punishment'' released in June, some new tracks will be hitting the crowd. MUNICIPAL WASTE are easily one of the top 3 bands to watch at the festival in terms of crowd pleasers.

HATEBREED ' RONNIE JAMES DIO STAGE ' SATURDAY

Get ready for pits and angry kicks. HATEBREED are back to play for a roaring crowd and never fail to impress. Fronted by vocalist Jamey Jasta you better be prepared to see an un-missable and loud set from the american metal group, this is easily one of the sets that everyone will be talking about. With a set-list to please all fans, including tracks like ''Looking Through The Barrel of Today'' and ''Destroy Everything'' you'll be leaving the set full of energy and hype for the rest of the evening.

GHOST 'RONNIE JAMES DIO STAGE ' SATURDAY

Headlining the Saturday evening on the main stage we have the un-holy GHOST bringing metal to the congregation. Papa Emeritus III and his loyal band of Nameless Ghouls will be bringing the doom and gloom over the festival with one hell of a stage show with a unique atmosphere that no other band can equal. The band will be playing a wide selection of songs from their back catalogue to please every kind of fan from old school to new. Expect to see the Sisters of Sin on stage and in the crowd from the female fans to give an edge to the performance. GHOST's set will be one of a satanic showstopper for the festival.

SKINDRED' RONNIE JAMES DIO STAGE ' SUNDAY

Get an extra t-shirt at the ready to swing in the air cause SKINDRED are invading the festival. Guaranteed to get the festival going, they are one of the most surprising yet best received announcements of the weekend. Sure to play some of their best songs within the time they have, they are going to get the crowds bouncing on the ground to tracks like ''Warning'', ''Nobody'' and ''Kill The Power''. SKINDRED are one to watch if you've never witnessed them in action so make sure to get down early!

HELL ' RONNIE JAMES DIO STAGE ' SUNDAY

After one of the most noteable performances ever done at BLOODSTOCK, HELL are back with more glory than before to bring an even bigger and better set. Though the band seem to be marmite to a lot of BLOODSTOCK's patrons, HELL are one of the most unmissable bands of the festival with a set full of pyrotechnics and a vocalist looking like Satan himself. If you missed the 2013 set then be prepared to be shocked and amazed. This is a band purely for those who love shock, NWOBHM and theatrics.

ARCH ENEMY ' RONNIE JAMES DIO STAGE ' SUNDAY

The legendary ARCH ENEMY come to the festival this year with new vocalist Alissa White-Gluz and from recent reports the band are putting on some mind-blowing sets. The band are currently touring around the world playing venues and festivals, paving the way for the new era for the band but still holding onto the old charm that won their original fans over and bringing in new ones. The band will be playing tracks mostly from their last release ''War Eternal'' but I'm sure they'll be bringing out the fan favourites such as ''Nemisis''.

MEGADETH ' RONNIE JAMES DIO STAGE ' SUNDAY

A band to make the thrash fans happy, MEGADETH have come back to the festival to close the main stage with a bang. Legendary guitarist Dave Mustaine and his band will be playing thrash hits from their back catalog to a very excitable crowd, one of the true favourites of the festival. Mostly playing tracks from new album ''Dystopia'' they will certainly have one of the biggest crowds of the festival, full of old fans of their music and ones yet to check them out properly.

WINTERSUN - SOPHIE LANCASTER STAGE ' SUNDAY

One of the most spoken about metal bands recently for a variety of reasons, legendary group WINTERSUN will be closing the festival on the Sunday evening on the SOPHIE LANCASTER STAGE. The band are riding on the back of their succesful indiegogo campaign for new album ''The Forest Seasons'' in which hopefully they will be playing new material at the festival. Get down to the SOPHIE LANCASTER STAGE early and expect a packed out tent.
