Progressive rock band Makrofagi, established in 2009, will release their second LP, Musta Ovi, on the 20th of October. For the last few years it has seemed like the group is hibernating, but in actuality a long process has taken place under the surface in order to put together a concept album. The lineup have set a goal to make use of all of their potential what it comes to technical performance as well as lyrical output and arrangements in order to create the best themed whole as possible.

As usual, Makrofagi do not to stick to their last, but instead introduce influences and bring forth references to other genres and classic works throughout the duration of the album. The band have sought varying atmospheres: While some of the pieces float forward rather lightly, others are mangled through a crack in a stone wall. The lyrics have been influenced by olden-day folk poetry, including elements from the works of one of the Finnish national poets Eino Leino.

"References to the events of this album are to be found in some of our songs released in the past, therefore you could say the story of Musta Ovi (Black Door) has been awaiting for a teller. This record as a themed whole tells a story of a stonecutter who is reaching for a mythical black door, while demons invoked by a corrupted king are tearing his home planet apart," Anttu Röntynen, Makrofagi singer, opens up about the forthcoming album.

The present release Varjot ' also released as a music video ' tells a story of a king's messy, raving dreams, ancient predictions and finally salvation which awaits behind a black door while shadows from manala sneak onto people's lands.
