LICH KING "The Omniclasm" Out April 14.
March 17, 2017
Lich King has revealed the track listing and cover art for their new album THE OMNICLASM, to be released on April 14th. The record features 10 tracks of aggressive, stompy thrash metal in the old tradition, with none of that pesky forced innovation mixed in. Awesome-assed preorder bundles are available now at:
https://merch.lichkingmetal.com
and include "I Quit" and a cover of Vio-lence's "Eternal Nightmare" as digital bonus tracks.
THE OMNICLASM marks the Massachusetts-based band's fifth full-length album and a continuation of their DIY nature with an independent release. As with 2012's BORN OF THE BOMB and 2014's DO-OVER EP, the new album was produced and mixed by drummer Brian Westbrook (Barishi, Condition Critical) at Sonic Titan Studios, and album art and design were handled by vocalist Tom Martin.
Lyrical content on THE OMNICLASM addresses humanitarianism, problems within metal as a genre, their eponymous mascot's further adventures, an LGBT fight song and disease-carrying toddlers. The comedy in Lich King's lyrics frequently marks them as a "joke band" in the eyes of some shortsighted elitists, like the music isn't headbangable or something. Sadly, this trend will continue throughout the album's release.
Lich King will be supporting THE OMNICLASM with a hometown show in Greenfield, MA on April 2nd, before embarking on a headlining European Tour from April 19th to May 27th. If you like your metal riff-laden and fun, go out and see them. If you don't, ask yourself whether or not you even like metal at all.
