HIGHLY SUSPECT: New Single "Bloodfeather" Coming August 26th, 2016
July 12, 2016
Grammy nominated US breakthrough band Highly Suspect have announced their new single Bloodfeather, impacting 26th August, ahead of their UK festival debut at the legendary Reading & Leeds Festival.
On the origins of Bloodfeather, lead singer and guitarist Johnny Stevens comments, "When I was writing the song, I was actually thinking more along a James Bond theme. But then I read a really great Western called 'Anything For Billy' by Larry McMurty and we decided to go all Tarantino on the song."
Bloodfeather is taken from the band's Grammy nominated debut album, Mister Asylum, which was produced by Joel Hamilton (Black Keys, Elvis Costello). The album received acclaim from the likes of Rolling Stone, NME, Entertainment Weekly, Billboard and FADER upon release and is inspired by experiences of chemically-soaked nights, hazier mornings, broken relationships and cathartic realizations.
Following the success of their debut UK tour in January & February, which included sold out shows at London's Old Blue Last & Black Heart, Highly Suspect will be returning to these shores for their UK festival debut at Reading & Leeds in August - joining rock heavyweights such as Red Hot Chili Peppers, Foals, Biffy Clyro, The Vaccines and The 1975. In addition to their UK performances, the band will be touring Europe with appearances at Lowlands Festival (Netherlands), Pukkelpop Festival (Belgium), Highfield Festival (Germany) and Cabaret Vert Festival (France).
Born out of the bustling indie rock-centric borough of Brooklyn, NYC, the Cape Cod-bred rockers formed around the talents of Johnny Stevens (guitar, vocals, synths) and twin siblings Ryan (drums, vocals) and Rich (bass, vocals) Meyer. The band's breakout success has just seen them sign a UK deal with Columbia Records & they are now busy writing and recording their sophomore album, due out in 2017.
