GALLEY BEGGAR: Third album 'Silence & Tears' released
May 16, 2015
Acid/folk-rock six-piece, GALLEY BEGGAR have this week released their third album, Silence & Tears through Rise Above Records.
The band commented: "We are all really excited about the release of this album; its been a long and exciting journey and we very much hope people enjoy the material. The album became everything we had imagined and more, with twists of psychedelia and classic UK folk rock.
"We can't wait to get out there and start performing the tracks live. We are playing some great UK festivals over the summer, and we are in the early stages of arranging some more intimate gigs in London in the coming months, so keep an eye out for these. Thank you for everyone supporting us along the way and we hope you enjoy the album as much as we have making it."
The album was recorded in London's analogue haven, Toerag Studios, with esteemed producer, Liam Watson (White Stripes, Tame Impala) - the band's first time with a producer at the helm. On Silence & Tears, GALLEY BEGGAR made full use of Watson's experience, and utilised the treasure trove of analogue equipment at Toerag. The results echo centuries of folk tradition, but stamped with beautifully psychedelic flourishes and a contemporary, yet timeless sound. That the band have described their mission as "to imagine the next phase of English folk-rock", it will come as no surprise that they have looked to the past for inspiration, but found a way leave their uniquely modern fingerprints all over this album.

"!delicately occult-tinged sonic curiosity!" - Metal Hammer Magazine
"We've had a dearth of bands that've been guilty of pastiche and blatant ignorance of the folk movement during this so-called revival of the past few years. Galley Beggar are about as far removed from that as they could possibly be. 'Silence and Tears' is a fantastic album and Galley Beggar are without a doubt the real deal!" - Fatea Magazine
