During those months I'm writing for this webzine, I'm trying to avoid putting labels in music, even though sometimes it is inevitable doing it. I prefer to listen to music not Metal or Jazz, for example. For me there is only good music and bad music.

If you are not open-minded and you are just listening to music that will make you headbang, well you should read another review. But if you are a fan of music, STAR OF ASH is a project that deserves your attention.

This is the new project of Heidi Solberg Tveitan (a.k.a. Ihriel), singer and musician of PECCATUM and HARDINROCK. She already had a solo release album, Iter.Viator, back in 2001. Seven years later, she is back with The Thread. Heidi's collaborations include the German musician and composer Markus Reuter and the Japanese cyber-punk writer Kenji Siratori. By having help from ULVER, in order to ...explore new ground in instrumentation and structure, yet continues the cinematic and elegant atmosphere of previous recordings..., as her small bio says.

As I mentioned earlier, if you are looking for Metal you won't find anything like that. To tell you the truth, this project is not even close to PECCATUM and HARDINROCK. This album makes you create images and sceneries. It is like a soundtrack to a small story that each one of us has in his/her mind, with it's cinematic atmosphere. Making the plot and casting the characters. This is an album that you have to listen to it again and again with the lights out, let it be the soundtrack to your storyline and try to catch every single detail. The sparse voices are completing this mosaic, creating a beautiful album.

The Thread refers to anyone that loves music. There are not much else to say. I would like to give you a hint about that album, but I believe that if I put a label, it would be unfair for the album itself. You can have an idea about their music in their MySpace page.
