Three Legs Of Trouble

More than half a century ago Rock 'n' Roll came into existence in America. Nowadays there seems to come a wave of bands having the good old Rock 'n' Roll still in their minds, especially in the south of the USA. One of those bands taking part in this movement is STONERIDER, founded by four ex-members of FIGHT PARIS. STONERIDER's debut sounds like a mixture of Hard Rock, Blues and sleaze, very American...
STONERIDER seems to be very deeply influenced by bands like BLACK CROWES, ZZ TOP or AC/DC. Their music makes you dance, not headbang. There's only a few guitar solos, the attention mainly goes to the rhythm: the heavy bass and drum lines, also the rhythm guitars, make the music sound rather simple but it fits just perfectly to this kind of music. The singer's voice reminds me of Axl Rose of GUNS 'N' ROSES, whose records may definitely belong to the collection of the members of STONERIDER.
A very good impression of the whole record is already given by the first two songs: Rush Hour Baby is nothing but a great Hard Rock song with amazing lead guitars. Back From The Dead is a rather groovy, sleazy composition, reminding of songs like Dust 'N' Bones by GUNS 'N' ROSES. Wild Child is very cool, slow starting sing-along with a very bluesy and deep sound that goes directly into the head.
Characteristically notable is the cover version of the old NAZARETH song, Hair Of The Dog: STONERIDER manages to brand the song in a very good way. Shut My Mouth sounds rather simply composed when I heard it for the first time. Listening to it once again I realized that there were a whole lot of small and well-filled details, making this song interesting.
Even if this album, Three Legs Of Trouble, sounds very simple it manages to take us back to the time of AC/DC or GUNS 'N' ROSES with all this Rock 'n' Roll feeling. You may need a second pass, but give this album a chance. You'll see it's definitely worth its cost.
