The Inner Sanctum

After a long and anxious period of anticipation, one of the truest heavy metal bands marks its return with the impressive album title Inner Sanctum . SAXON have long proven their loyalty to the genre so there is not real reason to start numbering their glorious metal deeds. As Mr. Byford himself admits, The Inner Sanctum contains some of the band's best songs. I'd say the album is in the style of Metalhead and Lionheart with a little bit of Solid Ball Of Rock , a number of tracks have an Eighties feel, but at the same time the production is very modern.
However I am a bit afraid that I was expecting this album to be slightly better - I am pretty sure that the songs will sound more powerful when played live - but for the time being this album sounds like the previous one Lionheart and in general terms even though it is more powerful in ways of songwriting - maybe few choruses, lyrics or melodies will remain in your mind.
On the other hand the band sounds honest as usual, they ignore all the fucking crappy nu trends in modern song writing, they can make you scream or whistle from time to time and in general they fuse you with positive energy. After a couple of careful listening to this album, you will start to realize its true scope - which in average is quite high and fulfilling - but sometimes fails to come to an equal level compared to glorious , yet almost contemporary gems like Metalhead or Killing Ground . There are many good songs but in my opinion the band can achieve even more in the field of songwriting. Anyway I think that the majority of listeners will not have problems letting the music from Inner Sanctum filling the room with its might!
Moreover what you are about to listen here is pure true heavy metal, followed by a certain rock and roll songs, all under the SAXON flag of course. Sometimes the album contains fragments from the Strong Arm Of The Law era up to contemporary times. There are many fast songs / up tempo numbers - in the typical SAXON fashion, many mid tempo anthems, and of course every old - SAXON fan will definitely like Inner Sanctum . SAXON have raised the standards of their song writing as well as our metal expectations in the past years, and that is the reason we have high demands from them - and always ask for more!
I am definitely extremely anxious to watch them play live again and destroy ourselves pretty soon again! The release date for Europe has been sen for the 3rd of March. The brand-new single If I Was You has been available as a download since January 26, 2007. Highlights of this album can be considered - amongst the other - the following ones: State Of Grace , Need For Speed , I've Got To Rock ( To Stay Alive) , Going Nowhere Fast and Atila The Hun . So until next times here is a solid ...
