The Art Of Dying
Schiztome

Schiztome seem to have succeeded in creating a venomous monster, combining elements of Thrash, Death Metal, the groove and dynamics of Hardcore and a good sense of songwriting. Taking their name from the Greek word for tearing device, it's safe to say no pictures need to be drawn. Brutal to the core, the very Metal core!! A stunning debut, indeed.
Formed in Plymouth in 2000, Schiztome have spent the last five years perfecting their own brutal blend of heavy music. The band released a self titled four track Demo in 2000, quickly gaining a large local fan base and was then followed up by the acclaimed Puritanically Unreconstructed. If you like and dig in for bands such as Stampin' Ground, Charger, Breed 77, Brutal Deluxe, Viking Skull and Defenestration then Schiztome will definitely appeal to ya!
They do have a reputation for giving out high-octane live shows and that they grab the audience by the throat and pound them into submission from start to finish. Their debut album The Art Of Dying which showcases Schiztome's ability to create a challenging, intense modern sound will see them win over many new fans. There are many groovy parts here which will make your spine hammer madly. A trained ear will also detect some Soulfly type influences in their music. One of the few drawbacks of this album is the somewhat poor production for this type of music. The bass is sometimes heard far ahead than the other instruments. Without leaving a negative feeling to you, they do not have something extraordinary unique in their compositions, however this will not let down anyone who would attend their concerts or buy their record!
If you wanna hear a new band play well delivered heavy music with new attitude, you must give Schiztome their chance. You may not tear your clothes apart with excitement after you listen to The Art Of Dying but their honesty will fill ya with many hours of intense music.
