EMPTY FLOWERS formed in early 2012, and immediately found favor with both heavy music and indie rock fans alike for its engaging, cathartic sound. The quartet's burning riffs, interlocking groove and the indomitable vocals of McKenna have forged the band a forward-thinking sound, while calling for comparison to stalwarts such as Lungfish, Girls Against Boys, Slint and Superchunk. EMPTY FLOWERS' debut album SIX was called "immediate" by Pitchfork and named as "Album of the Week" by Stereogum who called the band's sound "serious kickass rock fury." Decibel magazine spotlighted EMPTY FLOWERS with a track-by-track breakdown of the group's sophomore album FIVE, calling the LP "a pretty damn compelling aural journey."

SPIN recently premiered EMPTY FLOWERS' joint effort with GODFLESH / JESU mastermindJustin Broadrick titled "Car Fires", calling the cut "a slow-burning thing of blistering beauty and dark transcendence." The reworked version of the song includes additional instrumentation fromBroadrick. Check out the SPIN premiere of EMPTY FLOWERS' "Car Fires (Justin K. Broadrick remix)" now at THIS location!
