In a recent interview with Metal Samsara, english M:PIRE OF EVIL spoke of his career, Venom and the passion for the Brazilian public.

Excerpts of the interview taken by Marcos Garcia:

Metal Samsara: First of all we would like to thank you for this opportunity. Starting as the idea of forming the M:PIRE OF EVIL first emerged? Talk a little like you joined after some time out of evidence in the metal scene. And the two of you, Tony and Jeff, made during this time?

Tony "The Demolition Man" Dolan: Well, thank you for bringing us here, and first is an honor for us.

How did the idea to mount the M:PIRE OF EVIL ? Well, Mantas was doing a musical project called DRYLL, recording and playing live. He did a show at a festival and as an encore, they played "Black Metal" (where he did the vocals). The song ended up on Youtube, and the fans started to suggest that Mantas return with The Demolition Man and do something, since he was no longer in VENOM. Mantas then called me and after a while suggested we do something and asked me if I wanted to be in a band again. I agreed and so began the M:PIRE. We asked fans to choose the name of the band, and they chose "Prime Evil", which is the name of the disk that recorded together in VENOM in 1989, but another band, U.S., already uses this name, and returned while we announced our then changed the name! M:PIRE is an anagram of PRIME, then P RIME became Mpire EVIL OF EVIL.

And before that, I was working as a technician in automation and doing shows in theaters in London, and was also following my acting career, making feature films and TV.

Jeff "Mantas" Dunn: I was with the band Mantas, who later became the DRYLL and was producing and also teaching at Rockskool on a project for young musicians in the North of England.

MS: Some fans only remember the times you two in VENOM, especialemnte you, Jeff . This bothers you? Some may well have been disappointed to hear the discs of M:PIRE OF EVIL, and they do not sound the same as the first disc VENOM, especially if we are talking about the "Black Metal" and "Welcome to Hell"!

TDM: In disappoint? ( laughs )! No. We understand that.

VENOM is a huge influence, and these two discs in particular. No hard VENOM leveled these first two, then, as with any classic album, fans want more of them, but it's hard to keep it that way. Think with Motorhead "Ace of Spades" or with METALLICA "Master of Puppets"!

The disks M:PIRE OF EVIL, "Hell to the Holy" and "Crucified" not totally sound like these discs VENOM, but because we have evolved as musicians, and we like to challenge ourselves, and with M:PIRE OF EVIL decided NOT be one-dimensional, but we experience and do whatever it is sonically!
