I used to be pretty prejudiced a couple of years ago about bands like Him, about terms like Love Metal and about Nu Metal (Korn, Slipknot etc). Well, I suppose I ain't that prejudiced any more, actually I don't mind being at places which play that kind of stuff. What I'm afraid I'm still prejudiced with though, is when a band tries to crossover two (or more) other bands' playing styles and make it sound unique, make it sound their own. I get pissed off especially when all that is done and the outcome sucks Godzilla crap...
So, what do you get when you try to mix Him with Tool and various Nu Metal bands? Outrageous Tool fans chopping off heads of innocent (and in love) Him-worshipers? Surely what you get is not a Metal band but...San Dimas. I really don't know why these guys consider themselves to be a modern rock sort of mixture (I don't think they get the big picture - oh it rhymes! It Rhymes!).
Stampf's vocals are...nothing I've never heard of before (like for a million times). The whole thing is starting to suck really bad when you notice that new bands don't try to do something original, something we've never heard of before and that'll rock the hell out of us! I don't find the originality in this guy's vocals! Serge Christen (guitars) plays simple tunes on his guitar, which personally bore me to death, Yves Fontana (Bass)...well I don't have anything to say about the bass and Heinz Baumann is your typical drummer, like in a lot of new age bands, nothing ass-kicking and nothing entirely boring. The only thing saving their effort is that the lyrics don't talk about crap, they're about social and political problems that concern San Dimas (and lots of other people, as well as me). Well ok, I know that's not original but I prefer that rather than any type of my beloved left me cause her heart was aching, now I'm alone and drug-pills I'm taking. That touch of sensitivity will save the band from my total (and absolute) zero ranking of their album. And NO, I don't have any songs to mention (it would be a lie if I did).
So if your girlfriend's in love with you, don't you dare press the play button on these guys to make some atmosphere for you Heavy Metal pigeons (jeez!)...
