Ron Bolton Band - Ron Bolton Band album cover

Avenue Of Allies brings forth this rare as hell 1983 vinyl release, now pressed into CD to feed the AOR/Westcoast aficionados' appetite. RON BOLTON BAND (previously having the 'GROUP' ending in their name) sprung in the USA in the early 80s as a cover band and gradually won the audiences in their live sets with original material. This same titled album is everything we ever heard by Ron Bolton and his company...
...an album full of melodies in the 'primitive' AOR/Melodic Rock field, which - back then - was not that distant from the pomp Rock/power Pop likes to be honest (as seen in e.g. the excellent Midnight Lover). The overall production is quite vintage (think of TAXXI, TRILLION, LE ROUX) but - in a weird way - also brought up the KISS sound in the The Elder album. Fans of melodic Rock as widely tested the last decade will probably raise an eyebrow listening to songs like e.g.  Maybe I'm Dreamin' or Search Of The Kind since even JOURNEY and FOREIGNER or LOVERBOY were more powerful back then.
The songs may sound quite naive for today's standards, but I'm pretty sure a couple or more can stick to the core fan's head. The keyboards are in the front throughout the album and the guitars do not have such a leading role, but deliver the goods where needed. Most powerful moments may as well bring ALDO NOVA or BALANCE to mind, now listening to 21 and Livin' On The Line again.
This one and only release by RON BOLTON BAND can rent some space in your CD collection. It's a good album featuring 'first era' AOR music and will surely apply to the die-hards looking for every obscure release from the 80s (yeap, it was not only Heavy Metal having such hidden treasures and subsequent endless hunting). If you have some money to purchase in this vintage release, well, go ahead.
