Lots from the AOR era are releasing albums, even they are of the same style of not (like KIP WINGER, STEELHEART etc did) hoping that they will reach the recognition level of those years. Ted Poley, the voice of DANGER DANGER, is back with a project together with guitarist Vic Rivera. This is the first album for POLEY/RIVERA, although Vic Rivera has participated in previous albums from the solo career of Ted Poley, Collateral Damage (2006, Kivel Records) and Smile (2007, Frontiers Records).
Only Human is a decent release following faithfully the paths of melodic Hard Rock. It starts with the kickass track Keep On Fighting making your conscience easy for what to be expected. The album, in general, mostly brings to memory DANGER DANGER (of course), CINDERELLA, TALISMAN and there are some SCORPIONS and AC-DC riffs here and there. Almost all songs, like N.W.S, have a catchy melody or a really powerful opening and you start thinking yeah, that must be gooood!!, but in the middle of the track you realize that this song as the whole album have the same motive in the lyrics and in the melody.

The voice of Ted Poley is a plus point but although the production has the right instrument balance, it is - partially - a bit weak and would needs some boost. But it is worth a try, and who knows, AOR fans might find it good. For the rest of you? Not your cup of tea.
