The night has come for the mighty
TRIVIUM to play Lincoln tonight, a city that has not yet before had the band or much like it play. But the band have taken a different approach to this tour, playing cities they have never or haven't played in years and it's certainly made fans in the more distant parts of England happy.
TRIVIUM brings with them
HEART OF A COWARD and
AS LIONS as the supports for this date and the crowd are hungry to hear them play.
First on is newly formed, AS LIONS from London who come to the stage loud and clear. The band fronted by energetic vocalist Austin Dickinson who gets the crowd from stiff to jumping along within minutes.
Guitarist Will Homer blasts out all the notes to make you want to repeatedly listen to the band over and over and bassist Stefan Whiting has enough energy to make you dizzy from so much movement.
AS LIONS only have a short set but it's enough to make you want to hear more.
Next up on stage is UK favourites HEART OF A COWARD who pounce on the stage with a very excitable crowd cheering them.
Opening the set with ''Hollow'' which gets the pits flowing hard and fast, vocalist Jamie Graham proving why he's currently one of the best vocalists in the UK metal scene with brutal lows.
Their short but heavy set consists of half being from their last album ''Deliverance'' which means a set full of riffs and heavy bass lines from Carl Ayers, Vishal Khetia and Steve Haycock with Chris Mansbridge blasting on the drums.
The Lincoln crowd goes mental for set closers
''Shade'' and
''Deadweight'' which are songs which are hard to hate when the song drops.
Setlist:
1. Hollow
2. Miscreation
3. Turmoil 1: Wolves
4. Turmoil 2: The Weak Inherit The Earth
5. Shade
6. Deadweight
After a 40 minute wait and an intro of ''Run To The Hills'' the mighty TRIVIUM enter the stage to ''Silence In The Snow'' with the packed out venue singing to every word with a smile clinging to vocalist Matt Heafy's face.
It's unmissable to notice the improvement live in Matt Heafy's voice especially in track such as 'Dying In Your Arms'' and ''Until The World Goes Cold''. Guitarist Corey Beaulieu is still ripping out amazing solos and providing great backing vocals.
Tonight's setlist is an interesting one, comprising mostly of tracks from ''Silence In The Snow'' and best seller ''Ascendancy'' but they also played ''Requiem'' for the first time since 2007 which has hardcore fans going insane.
This tour is also the introduction to new drummer Paul Wandtke who is playing the drums great live and is pleasing the fans also.
The night ends on an encore of ''In Waves'' which has the biggest and best pit of the evening.
TRIVIUM despite numerous tours and albums are even stronger than ever.
