Their tunes was pretty new back then, Metal mixed with hard rock & roll wasn't that common. Not mention that back then, they were fast, heavy, and dirty with no remorse or second thoughts about what they spill to your face. All that rude attitude with a big illiteracy meant to school you up, for those who don't know BETZEFER in Hebrew is a misspelled word for "School".
After all I've been there since their first album release show, "Down Low", and it was very exciting to be in their latest shows for the "Devil Went DownTo The Holy Land", which is a very recommended album, almost after a decade. Maybe my expectations was too high, maybe I was too nostalgic for those crazy days, but something felt a little bit wrong in this show, and I can not to put my finger on it.
I could say a few words about the place itself, Levontin is a tiny place, it's literally a basement with a stage, even the foundation poles that purpose the building not to collapse to the "club" are there, and they are huge impediment for the crowd.
The loss of air and falls air conditioning is a huge disadvantage, it's not that enjoyable to be glued to so many people in such a tiny sauna!
I felt like a grumpy grandmother for saying that, because I could care less about those things when I was much younger. But for me BETZEFER is not a local Israeli band anymore, it is an international, hard rock metal band, performed overseas on huge stages, toured the world and sighed in labels, it's a very hard working band! I think they could manage a better and bigger show.
The bottom line, the latest BETZEFER show that took place in Levontin 7 Club in the 9th of October, is concluded by lowering standards for a band in this scale they could do better.
The show contained some new and some old material, so I could relay to those, and even get a bit nostalgic. The performance was very precise. The crowd looked like it got what it pleased, as I said before, the crowd was insane. The frontier, crazy crowd consisted of new generation young people who fail to know that they could get better.
