That Sunday 24th of February at the An Club took place another live activity of the Metal Defiance fanzine this time, with the Death-Doomsters INBORN SUFFERING from France together with other three bands from Greece.
First band that started the ceremony was MIASMA with their carnival horror Metal honoring their origin from the carnival city of Patra. The band began with a medley of Sabbath songs, with the self-titled cuts from BLACK WIDOW, MERCYFULL FATE and DEATH SS. They also played a new song Twilambia Of The Godless and they had a stage show that makes them special; like Exorcisms, babe butchering, shit feedings while in the end as they played the Animal from WASP looks like the falling of a curtain giving us the impression that the band is just joking. Without a doubt MIASMA is a cool opportunity if you want to see something different with a nice music from SLAYER powerful covers till their own songs like the very nice Saprowhore. Beware... for this time there will be no need for a second coming!
The setlist is as follows:
Come To The Sabbath / Come To The Sabbath / Let The Sabbath Begin
Saprowhore
Twilambia Of The Godless
Exorcisms, baptisms, torment!
Deathcrush
Lustwhoria
The Birth Of Miasma
Hungry necro-feeding!
Hell Awaits_ Postmortem
Animal
The next band was DIMLIGHT a band that plays a style that I cannot listen more than 10 minutes, an atmospheric Black together with female vocals reminding me some 90s bands of Napalm in the same area. Anyway, as I said in other reviews for them, I believe that they are very professional and good for what they are doing and I think that they must not be far away from a label contract.
SHATTERED HOPE was a Doom revelation for me. Excellent group in paths of MY DYING BRIDE, older ANATHEMA, some riffs from KATATONIA including some so slow and Doom moments that reminded me bands like ESOTERIC or even the Finland?s THERGOTHON. They started with a new song unknown to me but very Doomy with a part somewhere in the middle complete holocaust. They also played the two songs from their second demo of 2007 with titles Shadows From The Past and Enlighten The Darkness; both of them had a soul touching ending that was really inspired. You shhould Check this band because in my opinion was the best one for this live and I really want to hear something new from them. The set ? list was as follows:
New Song
Shadows From The Past
Enlighten The Darkness
Path Of Sorrow
Vital Life
The time had come for the headliners from Paris to unleash their sad melodies to the audience that once again was fewer than in the beginning. Too bad for them 'cause they missed a nice band and a painful journey into the hidden rooms of our personality. INBORN SUFFERING are mainly influenced by the Yorkshire's MY DYING BRIDE but they have some excellent moments in their songs making you forget that fact. They started with the intro song from their debut album Wordless Hope named This Is Who We Are together with other ones like Stygian Darkness and Monolith. They also present us some new songs from their upcoming album with the last one Grey Eden making the difference. The vocals were very good and expressive with perfect tint and I was surprised by their drummer playing that colors perfect their music with his inspiring playing fulfilling it in the best way. Surely a nice choice for MY DYING BRIDE fans, keep them in your mind. The setlist was the following:
This Is Who We Are
Apotheosis (new)
Stygian Darkness
Regression To Nothingness (new)
Monolith
The Agony Within
Grey Eden (new)
