Liquid Graveyard - Criministers album cover

Hearing that a well known musician who has offered some more than great tunes in the past is returning with a brand new band was more than good news to me. Mr. John Walker has gathered some nice and talented musicians and has formed the vehicle called LIQUID GRAVEYARD. I am really impatient to see what's in this demo CD.

For you who don't remember Walker, he was the frontman of the legendary UK Death/Thrash Metal band CANCER, the band who kicked my ass with albums like To The Gory End and The Sins Of Mankind. Since CANCER split up I had no news of Walker's musical activities... until now.

With members of bands like MOURNING BELOVETH and DECAIDAH, Walker is back to show that he hasn't lost a bit of his energy. With this new band, Walker presents some tunes that inevitable share some similarities with his Death/Thrash past, although some hi pitched clean vocals here and there are driving monotony away. Walker's guitar spits some poisonous riffs, while also mixing them with some Prog touches. The band has created a kind of weird sound that combines aggression with brutality and melody while managing to sound solid.

The production is one of the demo's negative points, since the sound is too weak and raw. Anyway, I see that LIQUID GRAVEYARD hide some pleasant surprises for us. I would like to listen to their album when it comes out, since a more complete result and a better production would definitely help me a lot.
