DEMONIAC is a 4-piece thrash metal band from Chile that are everything that their name suggests: Demonic, maniacal music that gives you no time to breathe! The self-titled intro track to "Nube Negra" starts with a beautiful, minute long melody which almost lulls the listener into a false sense of security before it storms into the typically insane music that we expect from these South American thrash gods: when it drops, it is brutal! I can only imagine what the crowd must go through at one of their shows as this is definitely 'mosh till you drop' music! This opening track is just the beginning of a fifty-minute onslaught that I am still recovering from after the 3rd listen.
"Marchageddon" is an aptly named second track on this incredible album. Snare rolls and ridiculous guitar solos make you feel like you are marching towards an impending doom, a.k.a "Acaro", the next piece of musical insanity. This is where the band have decided to go 'all out' and wreck your eardrums. The guitar solos and technicality alone would render most musicians incapable of replicating this monstrous track. These are some incredibly talented musicians! Dare I say that "Synthese D'accords" feels like it comes out of nowhere just after the halfway point of the album with a unique instrumental that gives you a tiny bit of respite after a face full of thrash madness. A clever use of synthesisers embellished with their signature sound has resulted in a beautiful addition to an already outstanding album.
"Granada" is my favourite track as it is a seven-minute journey into the souls of the artists. A solid two-minute acoustic intro that edges its way into the usual DEMONIAC sound gradually. The dark vocals are crisp, eerie and compliment the music perfectly. The build up to the craziness is as beautiful as it is different. If there is one track you should listen out for to find out if you could be their newest fan, I would recommend "Granada".
Overall, this album is set to blow your little cotton socks clean into the next dimension and I highly recommend DEMONIAC to anyone looking for a new favourite, South American thrash band!
