Boarisch Grattlig
Valosta Varjoon
VALOSTA VARJOON is a Black Metal band from Germany. Formed in 2016, this is their third full-length album, and it has eight songs. "Beervaria" is the first. Festival sounds open the album like something that you would hear at a celebration. From there, it's a pretty straightforward Black Metal sound, although it is not as thick as many Black Metal albums, and the riffs are fairly elementary. "BMATW" has a similar pace and sound. So far, the band isn't winning many points for originality or diversity.
"Der Hammerwurf" is more of the exact same thing. This is my number one complaint about an album...you might as well not even have song titles because they can be interchanged at will. "Boarisch Grattling" has another similar sound, and some of the band's amateurism is also starting to show. So far, this is a fairly painful listening experience. "In dieser Welt" is a little thicker, but that is about the only thing that distinguishes it from some of the other songs. The vocals through five tracks remain in almost the same exact key. "Bierdimpfl" is again, more of the same. I am going to finish the album however, because that is what music reviewers do.
"Die Nacht der Lust" is...more...of...the...same. If you are tired of hearing that, imagine how tired I am of listening to it. Finally, we come to the closing song. "Der arme Ritter" is, you guessed it, more of the same. There are some early cymbal crashes but that is about it. In sum, this ranks up there with some of the worst albums I have ever reviewed. Every song sounded the same, and the vocals were in the same range over and over. A hopeless effort, unfortunately.
