A Manifest of Imperious Destiny
Ascendency
From Bandcamp, "The subtleties tie in with bludgeoning violence effortlessly and leave us with a truly potent, memorable and distinguished record. Atmosphere and malice when they coexist in such a manner become an unstoppable beast, so prepare for annihilation if you seek out this mystical yet malignant gem of underground might. Delve into oblivion with these new offerings of unfaltering triumph and might." The album has four songs.
"The Triumph of Draconian Might" is first. It has a familiar Black Metal sound, akin to the FWOBM. The vocals are probably the best part...their laid back harsh qualities fit well with the harrowing music. "Victory - in all its Ephemeral Glory" also has that familiar "one-two" step of Black Metal, where the chord changes a half step and goes back. Although the sounds is frightening, they aren't winning any points for originality. "Domitor Invictus" has a similar sound. I really don't find anything memorable or distinguishing about this album so far. The sound is borrowed from the past, for the most part.
"A Manifest of Imperious Destiny" at least has some diversity in the opening, but the brass goes away pretty quickly in favor of more of the same. There just isn't much more to say about the album. Overall, considering it was only four songs long, and each of them had nearly the same sound, there isn't much at all to champion here. If they had even diversified their sound a little, it could have gone a long way.
