Lesath - A Beautiful Dream album cover

From India, comes LESATH, an Atmospheric Black Metal one-man band. Since 2020, he has released four full-length albums. "A Beautiful Dream" is his fifth, and it contains eight songs. "Veins" is first. Like a good dream, the musical tones are warm, and welcoming. The vocals are ethereal, trying to trick the mind into wondering if your beautiful dream is real. "Spellbound" is gorgeous out of the gate, with a simple little melody and vocals that make your heart ache. Somehow, while under this spell, you just don't care. Let this song carry you down a gentle stream into the forest beyond, and your fears will hitch a ride as well.

"From Every Depth" has another strikingly pretty sound. The melodies are very simple but since they are so effective, he just lets them ride, like a wave in the ocean. There are also some darker passages here. "Lenore" strikes an early balance between clean, hopeful tones and some grey tones of doubt. The tension in the air from this balance is thick, and the listener doesn't know where it is heading. "All That We See" has more of that tension, and just when you think it is headed to the side of light, it take a sharp turn into darkness, with some harsh vocals even. "Where You Feel Love" leaves no doubt as to its intentions. This song is all about the enigmatic thing called love. Waves of warmth and acceptance wash over you, and it takes you back to that feeling you barely remember when you first fell in love.

"Dream Well" has that comforting, dreamy sound. Even the vocals speak to the listener as if he was deep in a resting sleep, having one on the best dreams he can recall. "Moonflower" is a bonus track, and I am so very glad they included it. It ends the album on a sweet but mysterious note. Some of these closing tones are so beautiful, they leave you in awe. Overall, this was an aptly titled album. Dreams are some of the most inexplicable phenomena of the human experience. Some say they are reflections of things experienced, while others say they can be foreshadowing future events. This album is one of those dreams that when you just want to get lost in, and never wake up from. But when you do, you enter the day with a sense of calm, and peace.
