Last year I reviewed the rereleases of the two classic SAVAGE GRACE albums, "Master Of Disguise" and "After The Fall From Grace". They still are embedded in my brain, so when I saw their latest endeavour called "Sign Of The Cross" come across the available ones to review, I jumped at the chance. And to put it quite plainly; this is another example of a band from the Neanderthal age that is showing the Woke generation how it is done. This is US Power Metal at its strongest.

SAVAGE GRACE were first formed in 1981 and hail from Los Angeles. have always played that kind of music. They were active until 1992, when they disbanded, only to return to active duty in 2009. This rejuvenation only lasted a year, but in 2020 they felt they had to try once again. So, now, three years later, they are blessing us with "Sign Of The Cross", and it is my duty to try and tell you what kind of album it is. Well, before I start I have to confess to you, the readers, that there is no such thing as an objective review. It always is a personal opinion, however hard the reviewer might try to obscure that fact.

And now to SAVAGE GRACE and "Sign Of The Cross". Their third full-length album is one that certainly will have you banging your head. As the music is really powerful, invigorating and enthusiastic. You wouldn't say that these people have started playing music over forty years ago. But, there you have it. The songs are just right, have the proper vibe and will entice you to turn up the volume a little bit every few minutes.

I do have one major source of criticism, though. Even though it sounds like SAVAGE GRACE  at times, but not all the time. Most of the time I get the feeling that this could have been any other US Power Metal band playing the songs. It even reminds me of QUEENSRŸCHE's first EP "Queen Of The Reich" at certain times, but only briefly. Don't get me wrong, what I hear is quite good, but "Sign Of The Cross" just hasn't got that dark edge that the older two albums have got, and which made them stand out from the masses. But then again, that's my take on listening to "Sign Of The Cross". If you feel it is pure SAVAGE GRACE, just ignore me. Most people do.
